It seems the foosball script since about 2007 has followed the same common theme which makes my way too early predictions too easy. Below are 10 things guaranteed to happen in Auburn and around the US of A during the 2017 foosball season.
10. Florida still has no offense, but enough defense to make the SECCG once again as the annual sacrificial lamb of the East (see also #4).
9. USC-w gets hyped into the top 5 to start the season and proceeds to drop 2 of its first 3 games.
8. USC-e starts out fast, but they drop 4 of their last 6 games to move back to the middle of the pack in the East.
7. Michigan and Ohio State are once again the "cream" of the B1G crop. Both lose a game they shouldn't, sending others to their championship game, who then get left out of the playoff picture.
6. Gus Malzahn catches lightning in a bottle again with Stidham. They upset the defending champions on the road to start the season, catapulting them to an 11 win season. Malzahn gets an extension, a raise and gets his buyout upped once again.
5. LSU beats the mighty tahd for the first time since, what? 2009? Losses earlier to Auburn and later to aTm keep them out of the championship game.
4. Alabama drops a game to LSU and squeaks by Tennessee, aTm and Ole Miss with pick 6s and/or late blocked field goals, but still makes the SECCG with a season ending win at Auburn in double overtime. They still get the #1 spot in the playoffs. Ho hum...20 point win in the first round, followed by taking out the Michigan QB on the first play of the championship game to secure a 30 point win there and their 3,215,365th national championship.
3. Jim Harbaugh sues the NCAA and the Alabama defensive coordinator for taking his QB out.
2. Oklahoma wins 11 and the de-facto Big 12 Championship again and beats Florida in the Sugar Bowl.
1. Saban, as he is carried off the field following their 36,589,354-1/3rd National Championship, announces that he is retiring and that Dabo Swinney will be taking over for him.
