Police Unions
Prison Guard Unions
Prison Industry (for-profit)

All of the above have vested interests in keeping it illegal.

Bullshit.

It should be legal and there are more than a few groups of people who want to keep it illegal but it doesn't have shit to do with local law enforcement or prisons.

Community correction programs, court referral programs and the state bar association has a more vested interest in keeping it illegal.  To mention law enforcement and NOT mention those groups is ignorant.

I never said those were the only ones. Those are among the top groups that have a vested interest in keeping it illegal. Meaning, they've spent millions of dollars fighting against legalization. Try again.

That was true 30 years ago.  When serial burglars are allowed reduced sentences because of overcrowding, local law enforcement quit giving a fuck about marijuana.  It's still enforced because it's still against the law.  But NOBODY is going to prison for marijuana.  Go sit in a court room on docket call on Monday and you'll see how full of shit your statement is.

So again.....bullshit.

I'll also add, the (current) war on all drugs and war on immigration are bottomless money pits.

Furthermore, 21 states have decriminalized marijuana.  While Alabama will likely be the dead last state to make it legal, we are less than 5 years away from it being decriminalized.  Nobody gives a fuck about marijuana.

Cannibis being illegal in this day and age is purely about certain other industries protecting their interests. Big pharma, big tobacco, alcohol. If you get your jollies from pot it may affect your reliance on their product.

You do realize that Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Alabama, Louisiana have some of the harshest laws against cannabis, all still jail offenders. Also, last year police arrested someone every 50 seconds due to cannabis. Yeah, no one gets arrested or jailed though...shut the fuck up.

You're a moron.  It's against the law, of course it's enforced.  I said that.  I said NOBODY goes to prison for marijuana.  Court referral, color code, whatever else.  Not prison.  Not even jail unless some substance abuse program.

I've taken a shit ton of people to prison in the last 10 years.  I know who goes and who doesn't, regardless of whatever bullshit sentence is you read about on some bullshit article.

Woah, woah, woah, everyone, we have ourselves a baddass here...No one goes to jail or prison for cannabis, because he has put EVERYONE behind bars, they call him "The Nightstick Reaper", and he knows what happens all over the Country...minus the 25% population that's already in prison and the more to come due to Cannabis.

Sit down, shut up, eat your god damn turkey carcass, and know that you're wrong about your own profession.

How in the fuck you aren't a Bama fan is beyond belief.

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2015/oct/14/bernie-s/bernie-sanders-says-people-are-getting-prison-sent/

Despite what your communist choice of a president has told you, people don't go to prison for marijuana. People are getting arrested because the shit is illegal, but NOBODY. GIVES. A. FUCK. ABOUT. MARIJUANA. Nobody goes to prison, it's a fucking racket. They get caught, they get defense attorney. They take a plea that sends them to community corrections, defense attorney gets paid. District attorney gets paid.

That's how the story ends.

Quit reading bullshit articles by the ACLU and Bernie spouting bullshit numbers and taking it for the truth. If a man goes to prison for marijuana now, it's because he was also doing something else worthy of prison and happened to have marijuana in his possession.

Dumbass.

But now I hope Attorney General Sessions recommends the death penalty for simple possession because 87.4% of the citizens who are "pro-marijuana" are fucking morons who want everything given to them for free and would rather live in a communist nation because they'd rather smoke marijuana and be a goddamn idiot than go to work and buy their own shit.

Holy shit. Where's the Tylenol?

As a lawyer who has done criminal defense work, I have to agree 94.3%.  The 5.7% I disagree with is because I was doing appointed, indigent defense work.  You could work your ass off for 5 months and take a case to trial for a damn fine paycheck from the State of $832.00.

Otherwise, you ain't going to the slammer unless you've got a serious track record.
