In the 2014–15 season, the Ospreys made their first ever appearance in the NCAA Division I Tournament by winning the Atlantic Sun Tournament for the first time. On December 6, 2014, they defeated the Purdue Boilermakers on the road, marking their first ever victory over a Big Ten Conference opponent. They also won the Atlantic Sun regular season title for the first time and posted the best record in team history with 23 wins and 11 losses. As a No. 16 seed in the NCAA Tournament, they were defeated by fellow No. 16 seed Robert Morris in the First Four in Dayton, Ohio. Nevertheless, the Ospreys drew unprecedented media attention both locally and nationally.

Their success continued as the 2015–16 Ospreys began the season with a 93–81 upset at Illinois. It was the program's second win over a Big Ten Conference opponent

 Met a buddy of mine that went to the exhibition game last night.  Impressions:  No real big man presence inside but a lot of scorers.  Purifoy is as advertised and he said "Was Heron really in high school this time last year?" Looks like we've got a lot of athletic guys who can put the ball in the hole.  He said if Horace Spencer will step up, we'll be a lot more complete.

This is a real in-depth scouting report.  Talked to a couple of buddies that went to the exhibition game against Montevallo.  Said Danjel Purifoy is da' real deal.  Athletic and can put the rock in the hole.  That's ball in the basket for you novices.  The thing that gave me pause for wood, is they both were asking if Mustapha Heron was really in high school a few short months ago.  He's a full grown man ready to use and abuse hapless defenders. 

Both said these two will make us 100X better.  Post season better.  Now whether that's the NCAA's or NIT, we'll see.  But no excuses for not playing some extra games this year.
