I love this show.  It's like a real-life Red Dead Redemption.

Was thinking the same thing. There was the bank robbery part in one of the episodes where the guy looked kinda like John Marston

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

The orgy was too much.  I don't want any more of this show.

There's something about Evan Rachel Wood that I really like.  But not in a golden orgy.

Last episode was difficult to follow. Maybe its what they want but I am having trouble keeping up with who is a guest and who's a host?

A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America ' for an amount of 'up to and including my life.' That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.'

I finally started catching on to what is going on this episode. I then went back and skipped around to catch things I might have missed before. Mind blown.

This goes into a lot of it and also some other stuff I didn't previously pick up on. Spoilers, etc.

If you guys stopped watching this, I would highly recommend you start back. If you are like me and like help putting some pieces together, read the blog that Chad linked above after each episode. It's really incredible.

I've seen the show and the original movie.

As you can imagine, the 70's movie is pretty dated now and for sure doesn't hold up to the special effects and whatnot of the series. Also this appears to be taking a much deeper story line with the malfunctioning and how the park and hosts is designed to work.

There are hints sprinkled in the series that it is a continuation of the timeline of the movie (there was a scene where they mentioned in passing there hadn't been a major malfunction in 30 years, etc.).

If you're really into the series, I recommend watching the original move as like a "prequel" of sorts. It shows a lot of the two other parks, Medieval World and Roman World, which may or may not eventually make their way into the series.

If you're not interested in watching, here's the TL;DR spoiler:

A pair of rich businessmen come to Westworld, go whore-hoppin in the brothels, shoot up some bad guys in the saloons, etc. In the movie, the guests couldn't shoot eachother due to heat sensors in their weapons, but it never really addressed if the hosts could kill the guests. It was implied that they just weren't programmed to win the duels I guess. The robots start malfunctioning little by little until one in Medieval World kills a guest in a swordfight. Then the people in the control room start realizing shit's for real and start panicking. In West World, the particularly menacing gunslinger robot (Brenner) goes haywire and kills one of them and hunts down the other one for the climax of the movie.

Finally watched the original movie and was surprised how much I liked it.  Definitely sets the table for the series.
