SEC Network/The Way It Was
« on: July 25, 2016, 10:40:15 PM »
Saw the thread about the SEC Network in another forum.  I watched a couple of Auburn's earlier games and I've watched parts of several old games from other teams.  UF/FSU on right now from a late 90's MNCG.  Saw and LSU/Missouri Liberty Bowl match up from way back.  Don't recall the year but let's just say LSU's "Gold/Yellow" was more of a dark mustard color.  Think Pittsburgh Panthers "yellow" from the 70's and 80's.

Anywho, holy damn, I think football was sooo much better then.  If you see any of these games from 15-20...30 years ago....watch for a while and understand how the game has changed that significantly.  Yes, it was more boring offensively.  More pro style, ground and pound, play action type stuff.  But the key is, there were no rules in place that have absolutely pussified this game as we know it today.  Watch any old game and see how it was played when there was no "targeting".  No leading with the head.  Late hits weren't called on a shove a nano second after the ball was released. A hit 3/4 of a yard out of bounds wasn't punishable by ejection and death by hanging.

Watch any game from 2000 back and notice the hitting.  The flying through the air.  The reckless abandon the players played with.  Fly in.  Inflict as much damage and punishment as you can.  It's a huge reason football became so popular. I'm telling you, if you get a chance to watch a game from the 80's or 90's or even before....pay attention and notice how the game has changed drastically and how the hitting was 10X what it is now.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

On the off-chance that the fairy tales ain't bunk
And Imma keep a bottle of that funk
To get motel parking lot, balcony crunk.
