Who is having fun right now?
- Not Auburn, we know. We're now assured to finish dead last in the SEC West. A miraculous upset of Alabama would obviously be a sweet finish to the season, but even if we beat Alabama 49-0, there are still glaring issues that seem to plague the program every year.
- Not LSU. Three weeks ago, they were making a case for being the #1 team in the country. They had the guaranteed Heisman winner, a player that was being discussed as a potential member of the Bo/Herschel club. Now they're calling for a new head coach, and they may have a good argument for it. Blown out against Alabama, Arkansas, and Ole Miss has ended their season on a bitter note.
- Not Arkansas. Maybe Arkansas. They seem to have very low expectations, but right when they felt like they were turning the corner, their fat ogre coach goes conservative and loses the game against Miss State. They are and always will be a perennial 6-7 win team, and I think last night really solidified that in their minds.
- Not Miss State. They're putting all their eggs in the Egg Bowl basket, but I doubt they beat Ole Miss. Miss State caught fire one season and have had a lot of fun with Dak Prescott at QB, but Dak leaves this year. No chance at a good bowl. No chance they beat the better teams in the SEC in the upcoming years. But you know, if they're honest with themselves, they would be happy right now. An 8 win season is an incredible season for that program.
- Not Ole Miss. They need a terrible Auburn team to beat a great Alabama team for this season to be salvaged. An embarrassing loss to what is a now exposed Memphis team has soured this season for them. Ole Miss had national championship hopes. Now they're back to hoping for a decent bowl game if they can win the Egg Bowl.
- Not Florida. Oh sure, they've had a good season, but you know they hate this right now. Nearly lost to Vanderbilt and should have lost to FAU. They're going to lose to Florida State and then get bounced by Alabama in the SEC championship game.
- Not Georgia. They too had championship hopes this season, and like LSU (almost exactly like LSU) are now hoping to fire their long time coach. They needed overtime to beat Georgia Southern. They can look at their 8 and probably 9 wins this season and not see one quality win for the year.
- Not Tennessee, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M, South Carolina, or Missouri.
- Alabama is having fun. A potential Heisman candidate at running back. The nation's best defense. A quarterback that sucks but has learned to not make mistakes.
Idaho, Youdaho
- I watched a bit of the game. Saw a lot of similarities to how we've been playing the past few weeks. Robinson looked great again. Johnson has been able to limit committing game-losing mistakes. I know 34 points were scored, but I think I read that 17 of those were against our scout team late in the game.
Next Week
- I don't think this will be a blowout, at least not for most of the game. Alabama may keep their foot on the gas pedal in the 4th just to spite us. Maybe not.
- Alabama's offense isn't that good. They run Henry behind their great offensive line and throw some short passes to keep the defense honest. I think we'll stack the box and keep Henry in check for a while until we wear down.
- Their defense is going to annihilate us. Our offense is predictable and extremely limited in personnel. Robinson will have to have a heroic day just to keep us in the game.
- I think the score is kinda close at the half. Say 17-3 or something. Probably finishes 31-10.
