It's apparent that Coach Malzahn calls better plays with a dual threat QB, the only problem is that he keeps moving them to receiver. So now, you have a roster with pocket passers at QB and dual threat QBs at receiver...that's perfectly fine, as long as you know how to call plays utilizing those talents (Pro Style or True Spread type offenses or something along those lines).

Now, Coach Malzahn needs to go to JUCO, pick up a top dual threat QB and work the offense around him. Sean White is a talented QB that plays with a lot of heart (sprained knee, played through it), but he is not "the guy" for Coach Malzahn's strengths in play calling. He'd be better suited to transfer out to somewhere like Arkansas.

Hard to find a QB as good as Nick Marshall to run the read option and extend shitty play calling.

Super Cam is in another class altogether because he often makes Mike Shula look like a genius.

I'm thinking that's why Auburn needs a DTQB, instead of a pocket passer...those shitty play calls trend to show themselves more when the QB doesn't scare anyone with his feet.

It's so evident to me now that I consider it an axiom for the success of any successful Malzahn offense.
There's no mystery as to why Auburn QBs aren't allowed to work independently with an outside source. Besides being a complete waste of time for those involved it offers false encouragement to a young QB that wants to progress.

Watching Cam run the read option "some" Monday night.....it was like I was dreaming of the good old days. The way he sold it. Good grief he was/is special. And NM wasn't bad either, just not a great passer but he sold it just about as well. No one knew WHO had the dang ball.

As Matthews said in the article, it seems likely that there will be a shakeup.

“Any time you underachieve as much as Auburn has this season, it’s common for there to be a shakeup or two on the staff,” Matthews said. “(I) would not be surprised to see that happen at Auburn in the next four weeks or so.”

Common sense tells you the two are tight and Malzahn wouldn’t take dismissing him lightly. IMO, Lashlee and possibly Garner won't be back next season. I want to see Craig moved over to coach the QBs/OC and bring in a big time WR Coach. I'd like to see Coach Rocker back in the Orange & Blue.
