Reading a couple of articles on Corch Thompson and obviously, one of his big strengths is how well he recruits.  But, I found this little tidbit in one of the articles.

"His Alabama recruits included Julio Jones, A.J. McCarron, Mark Barron, D.J. Fluker and Trent Richardson, according to ESPN".

I'ma axe you to take off the orange and blue glasses first.  Then, I'ma leave that here for a while and let it soak in.

Wasn't hashed enough.  No one on this board has spelled out the name Trent.  It's tRent.  We all shook our heads at the bought and paid for Julio.  Everyone had their inside sources on how much it took to get him to Bama.  Yahoo Sports did a piece on Fluker and even NTYF did one too because the man was gettin' paid.  Who was behind every single one of those?  Lance Thompson.  Oh, Auburn does things the right way while evil Bama is putting the best team money can buy on the field. Then we hire the guy who brokered all those deals and Auburn fans are, "Hell yeah".

The guy didn't suddenly see the error of his ways and decide he wanted to get on board at a place where he could wipe the slate clean and be a good Christian man.  Do things the right way.  The Auburn way.  He's dirty.  Nobody face palm if/when we get hammered.  Saban is untouchable.  We aren't.  We're a target and we just told the world we're about to play the game on their level.

You are assuming that the coach that is listed as their recruiter is the one who forked over cash, which is rarely the case. That shit is far removed from the recruiting front lines. I think the guy is a good recruiter regardless.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

That's fine.  I'll sit back and wait for all the weak sauce excuses for justifying we're okay with this hire.  The bottom line is this guy has a history of sealing the deal on numerous 5 star recruits and we're all hoping and praying he does the same for us.  We'll put our heads in the sand or fingers in our ears because we don't want to know how he does it.  Just do it and keep it down home, cuz.

While he's doing it at Bama, he's the dirtiest player in the game.  Here, he's a great recruiter.  No, he's not paying the money personally.  But I'm 150% certain he's recruiting the kids and finding out what it's going to take to get them to sign.  Whether it's in the kids pocket or the remodeling of mama's kitchen. Then he let's the people who are "far removed from the recruiting front lines" know what it's going to take and how to handle it.

I can't see anyone's face.  Maybe we can all Skype so I can see if you're telling me with a straight face that you believe this guy signed Julio Jones, DJ Fluker and tRent Richardson....just for starters...and he's not dirty as hell.  Please tell me you don't think he had anything to do with brokering those deals.

It's not suddenly okay just because Auburn now signs his paycheck.

Blasphemy!! Shut yur whore mouth.
o.k., so it's a good point. And we didn't discuss but I do think that it's concerning.

I was more concerned about his being a spy in a Sun Tzu type move by Saban. His mentor filmed opposing practices. I don't think that there is any doubt that there have been several Saban orchestrated flips over the last few years.

I just didn't understand the lateral move. Saban obviously thought enough of him to hire him twice. He's a 50 yr old that isn't a rising star, as he's been a DC and moved down to position coach.

And I doubt it was a money move by Thompson. I haven't seen his pay but I'm suspecting it's similar.

But, Thompson's working with Will in the past and the fact that Saban may indeed be difficult to work for are likely big factors. And maybe Saban was truly pushing him out. I would imagine that the D line and LB's get more blame, since it is Kirby and Saban that coach the DB's. If so, that's the best scenario for us. Hopefully, Thompson has a chip on his shoulder and will work harder to win the war.

So, maybe it just boiled down to his wanting to come to AU and work with Will. Less stress and similar money.

Re: his past recruits, we I overlook those transgressions if he helps us land mowr starz.

What I do think is you are getting your blood boiling over conjecture. Not to get cliche, but do we not think Gus or Will vetted the guy and "trust Gus"? Do we know he was dirty? Even if he was, would he still be for dirty for us? Or did Gus hash all that out with him before the hire?

I can make a hypothetical that he cheated at Bama but tired of the lifestyle and culture and wanted out - just as easy as the aforementioned hypotheticals. I wouldn't worry too much about what we don't even know. At some point, I do like to refer back to the Boom Brothers and trust their judgement. Can Thompson really do that at AU if there is no piggy bank to scoop from for these kinds of things? If there is one, then we have bigger issues than him.

Saban, Smart, Tom and other boosters names have always been in the headlines for shady shit. Not sure Ive seen many of our folks consider him the dirtiest player in the game. The others - yes...him? Not so sure.

Calm yourself Snags. And enjoy the ride. I like the fact that we have a HC that is not fucking around.

FTFY  :bar:

I believe my post was the antithesis of that.

RIF - Snags referred to doing things the Auburn way. The right way. Because of his disdain for hiring this guy. And what is considered hypocrisy.

Hiring Thompson and rolling the dice there is far from being a Creeder. Stating that we have a coach that isn't fucking around and is willing to look those inbred fucks in the eye and take their coach, smile about it and do whats needed to win - I'm not getting where you think that is Creedish at all. Its anything but. Its edgy. Its risky. And its pretty damn cutthroat. I like it.

Can any of you honestly sit there after watching our defense for the past few seasons and say that the moves being made don't excite you? Now I know that most of you have to have the assistance of your little blue pills, but the thought of our defense being neck breaking, helmet crunching awesome this year, is all the blue pill I need.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.
