The Legacy of Urban Meyer

The Legacy of Urban Meyer
« on: January 13, 2015, 08:51:29 AM »
3 national championships by age 50
Only the 2nd coach to win a national championship at two different schools
142-26 career record (.845 winning percentage)
9-2 in bowl games
17-6 at Bowling Green
22-2 at Utah
65-15 at Florida
38-3 at Ohio State
0-2 all time vs. Auburn

The only knock on him was the way he left Florida and how many players were in trouble with the law while he was there.  That problems seems to not exist at Ohio State currently.

His legacy?

Scoring a touchdown when up 35-20 and less than 30 seconds remain in the game.

Fuck that assbag.  Right in the pussy.

Opponents winning % at Utah and tOSU? Not good. Mostly cupcake schedules.

At UF, he had the sec to himself for a couple of years, and uhhh Tebow. And at UF, he had the best talent in the trenches. When the temperature got hot (from Saban, other coaches/teams, tebow leaving, etc), he bailed.

I think his record is very overinflated. And he's a pompous ass.

F him.

I agree in principle with most of what my 2 esteemed colleagues pointed out, however, I don't share the same sexual attraction toward Meyer and have no intention of having intercourse with him. Otherwise, I agree on all points brought up.

B..b...b...b...but he beat ALLER-BAMMER!!! I've heard that threeleventy times so far.  Doing that proved his team is the greatest of all time and should have movies made about it.  He's a legend.

People are so stupid.  This was the weakest Alabama team in a long time.  Blake Sims is a fucking joke.  The defense continues to backslide (Saban's defense, but Smart's fault).  It was a five-loss team masquerading as a contender.

I'm not sure why, but Bama fans today seem to think that this somehow vindicates them.

Say what you want, but the man has put together an SEC-esque team up in the great northern shithole.

And he won with the 3rd string QB. yes things may have fallen into place, but so did they for us in 2013. Hate him if you like, but you cannot shit on the accomplishment this season. They have a really damn good team.

Agree on Bama. Not their best team. Shouldn't have been there. Just like ND had no bidness being there 2 years ago.

TCU is still the most complete team in the country, throughout the season. - start to finish. tOSU did just enough to get in (on name only), was well rested and got hot at the right time against teams who had serious flaws and lack of physicality.

Big 12 will have two more teams (patsy) by start of next season to insure they have a CC game and avoid the being left out of the party.

Yes, Yes I can.

They played 11 nobodies.  Auburn would have been 11-0 against this bunch.  Half the SEC beats eight or nine of them.

Navy, Cincinnati, Rutgers, Maryland, Kent State, Rutgers, Penn State, Illinios, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota.  LOST to Virginia Tech.

Michigan State was semi-legit.  But who knows because they played the same pile of nobodies.

Wisconsin was ordered by the league to lay down.  Period.

Alabama was as weak as they've ever been.
Florida State was VASTLY overrated and should have lost five or six games.
Oregon is what we thought they were.  They are not -- and never have been -- physical enough to survive outside the wussy Pac-10.  Auburn's defense in 2010 (which was pitiful) pushed them around. Auburn's OL in 2010 ragdolled them.  They never learn.

They don't impress or scare me at all.  If AU played them tomorrow I'd feel good about our chances.

But the committee stated they were going to pick the top 4 teams regardless of conferences and standings and all that shit.

Ooops. Truth is people were scared to death of them. And they should have been.

Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall said, "Guys don't mind hitting Michael Vick in the open field, but when you see Cam, you have to think about how you're going to tackle him. He's like a big tight end coming at you."

I chortled at this!

Why?

We put 680 yards on a team they put 150 less yards on in the same 2 week period. Our offense (when clicking) keeps us in every game. With Muschamp here now, the sky is the limit.

Criticize what you want, but Meyer's resume is on target to be one of the best all time.  I agree that it's inflated considering his competition.  But he did turn around Bowling Green and did build the Utah program.

I just wonder if Urban Meyer becomes the new go-to guy for ESPN interviews.  I mean, Michigan hired Jim Harbaugh and ESPN got a quote from Nick Saban.  When the Jets finally hire a coach, I'll be curious to see what Meyer says to ESPN about it.

We weren't there, they were!

No one is arguing that we were or should have been. K just said he wouldn't exactly hate us in the matchup. Not sure we would actually beat them, but as flawed as we were I wouldn't hate us in that matchup either. Before the Bammer game in Turdville, no one gave us a chance in hell either and we went up there and came close to pulling the shocker. We have an O that can keep us in every game.

We weren't there, they were!

Technically I was, or could have been, game tickets were pretty easy to get and around face value.  The $50.00 to $60.00 parking fees can put a damper on going to a game there.
