I blame his "Bama taint" for all of this.

So you know...

The whole coaching tree thing originated out of the state of Ohio and started with Paul Brown.

McElwain was very good at Colorado State. Liken it to success at Arkansas State as has been mentioned. Not as good as Nussmeyer as a playcaller IMO but neither as good a coordinator as Kiffin at spreading the ball to playmakers. Remains to be seen if he can handle UF job. Finebaum hails the McElwain hire as the greatest since Saban at Alabama. God only knows what that means to the Bammer media when Kirby Smart takes a head coaching position.

It's going to be a hiring season like no other before with quite a trickle down effect until some NFL teams are eliminated from the playoffs which will ultimately have recruits bailing out of verbals so here's hoping we can get Muschamp for a couple of seasons if only to provide stability and keep us relevant until we can get a longterm DC we can live with.

BTW...Alabama State needs a head coach for football per Craigslist.

It may be true, but nothing on their official site and I still don't see where Lorenzo Ward has been released.

I find it hilarious considering they haven't even fired their Defensive Coordinator.

This all comes as surprise to Ward and his assistants because this the way Spurrier tells his boys that they are fired, like duh.

@Auburn247: Report on Muschamp to SC not accurate

Although not a done deal still doesn't mean he isn't trying to play us and Aggy to parlay it into a hc gig.

Bill Clark look so bad to any of you bitches now?

BTW, if this is true, it's laughable to me an they can gladly take his egotistical big hat little cattle ass to that dump of a city for 1.7 mil and a hciw. That's a losing proposition IMO.

No kidding.  I don't get it.

He couldn't win at Florida.  So a school like South Carolina is desperate to have him?

Would rather get a former player and up and comer like Charles Kelly whose heart is in it from a winning program than to get in a bidding war for a mercenary whose agent is causing a stir only to settle for a seat in a booth.

Quote
Josh Kendall from the newspaper in Columbia, S.C., just tweeted this:

Steve Spurrier: "No, I haven't hired Will. ... I haven't really talked to anybody about additions (to staff)."

From FootballScoop,

Will Muschamp: In response to a number of local reports that Will is close to signing an agreement at South Carolina, sources close to the situation tell us that is not accurate. We understand that Will is on vacation and won’t be making any decisions until he returns next week.

@ClowESPN  11m11 minutes ago
Auburn has best shot. Don't see A&M. RT @Mark_Schlabach Muschamp is out of the country and won't do anything until he gets back.

No one has a damn clue.  It may be true he is going to USCe, but if he doesn't Fowles will explain this away as something fell apart at the last minute, he didn't agree to this or he wanted that.   Pretty sure we won't know anything until next week.
