FUCKING HEALTH INSURANCE WENT UP AGAIN
« on: November 13, 2014, 06:09:01 PM »
THANKS ALOT OBAMACARE

My health insurance just went up again and I am now paying $12,652/year for coverage that SUCKS DONKEY BALLS

For my $12,652/year I get a whopping $2,000/person deductible, and once I hit that I still get to pay 20%, a $40 - $60 copay, a $6,000 out of pocket max, and shitty drug copays.

God Bless America.  I Fucking Quit!! :fu: :fu: :fu: :fu: :fu: :fu:

Really?

The family plan for my employees has doubled since Obama took office.  It's something like 1700 a month if I remember right. Co-pay has gone up. Deductibles have gone up.  Prescriptions have gone up.

It's been a massive screw job thanks to the most inept president of my lifetime.  And I saw Carter.

I have a friend that is a successful attorney and one that is biomedical engineer for a big company.  They both make serious coin.

The attorney has a shit family plan and pays $500/month.  The engineer has a good family plan and plays $650/month.

Not sure why anyone would be paying $1000k+/month for a crappy plan.

Damn.

I'm not sure what the best fix is.  So far, seems like socialized healthcare seems like the best option for all but still doesn't fix the overall problems causing the exorbitant prices.

I know healthcare costs will single handedly hamper my American dream.  Sucks .

No. That's not it.  The plan isn't supposed to consider that.  It's why it's a plan.

The insurance companies are, for some reason, trying to shove me out of this.  They want me to abandon this and let my employees sign up for Obamacare.

Auburn did this to its graduate students.

Two years ago, a family plan was about $150/month.  This year?  $585/month.

Why?  Well, the girl on the phone said not to quote her on this but she said they knew graduate students could go on Obamacare so it would save them a lot more money to not offer affordable health insurance to grad students.

Would not surprise me as for any motive.  All I know is 2 years ago prior to Obamacare, my family policy was less than $600/month with $750/person deductible, and a $2,000 family out of pocket max (80/20 plan).

After Obamacare it is now $1054/month with a $2,000/person deductible, and a $6,000 out of pocket max (80/20 plan)

These fuckers have taken over $6,000 out of my pocket in premiums alone (not to mention the money the highr deductibles are costing me) and they wonder why the economy sucks balls

I THOUGHT I WAS SUPPOSED TO SAVE MY $2500/FAMILY AS PROMISED

I'm very suspicious about these 2 plans. I would be very surprised if a plan for this cost would meet the new and higher standard that Obamacare brought about. I haven't seen plans that cheap for a family since Obamacare started.

I've been paying over 1k for family coverage for many years. I think it peaked at 1200 and we started looking around, switched to an $800 plan about a 2 months b4 Obama care. Enjoyed my savings for all of about 30 days before the plan was snatched because it didn't meet the standard. It was perfect for my family and was good by my standard. It was blue cross plan.

Anywho, back over 1k again.

I had great insurance at publicly traded companies compared to what smaller companies  have to charge.

If you are with big company, keep your insurance in mind before ever jumping ship. Benefits of Wall Street  are worth a damn lot.

This Obamacare is as much about weath redistribution and its taking from working families. It's a failure for America. It's even worse on some of the poor.
Edit: I see the one dude works for a big company. I don't read your stuff very closely but neither does anyone else. That's in line. But not for an individual or someone working at a small company.

Some of you are forgetting that the exceptions given to some of the companies just ran out.

The POS in the big house asked that they not send out the increases until after the election.

And if your plan has not changed, your company may have adjusted a couple of years ago in expectation of the changes. Mine did that also.

Or you have a shit plan with the minimums for a healthy individual who rarely uses said plan.

My friend who owns his own business just got word that his plan is doubling. He lost that exception.

The reason most plans go up is that they have to cover certain minimums that before ACA, you could opt out of. Now you cannot.

And they have to raise prices to cover the "subsidized" plans.

Nothing is free. Those of us with a job and paying for our own insurance are helping to pay for the freebies also.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Both actually work for big companies.  The attorney works for an ambulance chaser.

The issue I have with Obamacare is that like many Democrat-led programs, its definition of wealth is way off base.

Back when I was a musician, I was getting close to making enough money for my wife to quit her teaching job and work part time.  Except that "close to making enough money" was a lie when I checked out what my insurance costs would be even if I went through Obamacare.

According to Obamacare, $65k/year total for a family is enough to be considered wealthy and therefore, we would get little subsidies for health insurance.  $65k a year ain't much in terms of the American dream.

The whole system is fucked.

The plans you are on have. You just aren't paying the increase for some reason. Give a hefty thanks to your companies. They are either doing some grade A negotiating with big leverage (in the minority), or are picking it up for you. Check out your total compensation summary to see for sure.

Mine went up 21% last year, and another 13% this year. Im with a very good employer with very good plans and I probably got off good. Many have seen increases like AUTR and that really sucks.

80% of the insured had their rates go up to pay to subsidize those whose did not or were not covered period. I hate this system. Cradle to grave subsidized govt dole. F me.

This is what has happened.  There was about 50% rate increase initially to our company that is about 250 employees.

The owners negotiated HARD with the insurance providers and the company itself is trying to pick up the majority of the difference.  It was a conscious decision in an attempt to make sure we kept and were able to attract quality employees.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

Same here, but even though the company paid portion went up more, the employee contribution did too.

the other thing that pisses me off is that they DRASTICALLY lowered the amount you can set aside for a flexible healthcare spending account.  Used to, you could set aside up to $5000 pre-tax to cover prescriptions, dr appts, and so forth.  The years we knew we would have a lot of medical bills, like for a surgery or when I was pregnant, we would set aside more.  Now the max is $2000.  I have to have a crown next year and will also need new glasses.  That $2000 won't cover it.
