After he called one of the best games I've witnessed in his career? I don't think that are sinking. Having a bad year, yes. Defense bad, yes. I don't see retirement yet. Maybe a d cor change.
Speaking of, I appreciate the improvement Johnson and Garner have helped create. But, they need to get this pass rush thing figured out. It's as if the absence of Ford and Lawson make for the end of it.
I'm critical of Johnson only because it is his job to coordinate which in my mind means to make each part work together which he has accomplished for the most part. But other teams lack an NFL bound DE and manage to make it work.
He coached a very good game against Kansas State. But against State he left the middle open late which allowed them to finish us off just after Prescott had floated a couple of picks to the sideline.
Our run defense is not weak as witnessed by our shutting down Brett's big boys in the second half and in the thrashing of LSU. Granted both of these teams are one dimensional.
We should definitely stop Hugh Freeze's offense after facing Prescott and the receivers they have because the Rebs don't have a comparable run game. Knowing this, we should be able to bring pressure on obvious passing downs. Unless they borrow a page from Spurrier and execute it as well we shouldn't struggle to stop Bo Wallace.
