With Auburn not playing and the weather being nice here in Alabama, I didn't get to watch much football until later in the day. Here's a brief list of what I did see:
Alabama
- Yeah, I'm going to need you to hold up a second. The pollsters are morons and trend-followers, so don't get too excited about that #4 ranking. I saw a Texas A&M team that may not have been able to beat 2012 Auburn. Your other big victory was against a Florida team that was manhandled by a Missouri team that was blown out by Georgia.
- Though that West Virginia win looks a whole lot better.
Texas A&M
- Worst performance I've seen since 2012 Auburn. That team gave up after Alabama's first touchdown.
- Kevin Sumlin's coaching philosophy is not working nor is it going to work in the future. Tony Dungy he is not, and the rumors of him enjoying the night life in the offseason are affecting his team. They were undisciplined, weak, and relying on emotions. Neither the offensive or defensive lines had any semblance of toughness. I'm not really sure how they beat South Carolina. Maybe South Carolina just sucks that bad.
Florida
- So that sealed Muschamp's departure. No way they beat Georgia or Florida State. This could turn into 2012 Auburn as well. Zero offense and a defense that has to be tired of busting their ass only to lose big.
- Who goes to Florida? I can't see them going after another coordinator.
Florida State
- Most despicable program of the last twenty years. Maybe ever. To hear Jimbo take it upon himself to shower his team's character with praise was disgusting. To go all proud-dad on Jameis about how he's such an upstanding young man was deplorable. Talk about selling your soul to the devil.
- And while that pick call at the end of the game was warranted, I still say it could have gone either way. The defender put his hands on the receiver first and pulled his jersey down. Unfortunately, the receiver was making no effort to run a route.
- You made me root for Notre Dame. Damn you, Florida State.
Final Thoughts
- I still really like our chances. Ole Miss looks like a great football team right now, but I just can't help but think they still have a little Ole Miss left in them. Bo Wallace is due for a 3 interception game. Hugh Freeze is due for a few bad calls. That defense can't shut every team down.
- Maybe I'm crazy, but I'm calling the upset. LSU's at home. Their run game is clicking. Their young athletes are starting to bust free.
- Les Miles is very much like Tuberville. It's going to be extremely rare for him to waste a season. Much like Auburn 2007, I could see LSU pulling out 8 or 9 wins, which would require a victory over Ole Miss or Alabama.
- Though I did have some high hopes for Kentucky. I thought Kentucky would give LSU a game, maybe even get the upset leading to a big matchup with Miss State.
- Anyone else realize that Missouri only has 1 SEC loss with their toughest remaining games being @Tennessee and Arkansas? They have to go to Texas A&M, but who fucking cares about that. They play Kentucky too. Georgia has to play Auburn. I would not be surprised to see Missouri slip into the SEC title game again.
