This week instead of a new Top 25, I will rank my biggest problem with the AP's Top 25.
5. Ohio State #22
You won 34-17 against Navy and a pounding of Kent State. Congrats. BUT YOU STILL LOST TO VIRGINIA TECH.
How's VT doing? Their only other win so far is a 34-9 win over William & Mary. They lost to East Carolina and now Georgia Tech (who if you haven't been keeping up, are awful and barely beat Tulane & Georgia Southern) as well.
Until they beat a decent team, there are plenty more worthy candidates behind you or not ranked at all.
4. Stanford #16
You've beaten UC Davis and Army and failed to put up huge offensive scores on either. And you LOST to USC who clearly sucks as demonstrated by my next pick...
3.USC #18
You lost to Boston College. Buh bye. In case anyone thought they may "not be your grandfather's Boston College". They're 0-1 in the ACC by losing to Pitt, who lost to Iowa, so yeah, they are.
Just because you beat Stanford in a 13-10 cripple fight is not enough to warrant you a spot.
2. Arkansas still unranked.
The only unranked team in the SEC west is the one SEC team we already beat. I take this as a huge fuck you to Auburn. They have blown the doors off of everyone they've played but us. Liquidated Nicholls State 73-7. (I know, they are awful, but that's still an ass pounding). Then they were the underdog to Texas Tech and they whipped them into the ground 49-28. They played a previously unbeaten Northern Illinois this weekend (a team not as good as Tech, but considerably better than Nichols St.) and prolapsed their anus 52-14 as well. Their next two games are A&M and Alabama. They will, for good reason, be underdogs in those games. But laugh all you want, but I think they make more of a game out of both of those than anyone expects.
Regardless, for what they've done so far and only dropping one to last year's SEC Champion/National Title defender/Current unbeaten #5 team, they should be lightyears ahead Ohio State, Stanford, and USC and...*
1. Michigan Fucking State #9.
Why?? Why is ANY one loss team in the Top 10? And if they are, why is it a team that has only beaten Jacksonville State thirty something points and East Michigan by a little more than that? Why does losing 46-27 to a team that held on for dear life against unranked Washington State (with their own losses to Rutgers and Nevada already) award them that kind ranking? Arkansas is unranked and to me have a far better resume after four weeks of football, and yet they're unranked and Michigan State prances in at #9?!? WHY?!?
*In addition to these four teams, Arkansas should be ranked before Georgia, South Carolina (they at least lost to a team ranked almost as high as Auburn), Wisconsin, LSU, and Oklahoma State.
