In all seriousness, this will most likely end the coming out party for homosexuals who play college football.
Every SEC defensive player of the year since 2008 has been selected in the 1st round of the NFL draft. Sam was picked up late in the 7th.
Michael Sam had 3 sacks in the preseason, which placed him #4 in most sacks in the NFL. 11 other players had at least 2.5 sacks. 10 of them made a roster. 1 made a practice squad. Sam with 3 is sitting at home not even worthy of holding the bag at practice.
49 players had at least two sacks. 38 are now on active rosters. Five are on practice squads. Six are without jobs, and those six have been in the NFL for at least three years whereas Sam is entering his rookie season.
Perhaps there were reasons behind closed doors besides his sexual orientation that has scared off teams from signing him. Maybe he's an asshole. Maybe he's disrespectful to the coaches. But I seriously doubt any draft prospect who actually wants to play in the NFL will ever come out before the draft again.
