A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America ' for an amount of 'up to and including my life.' That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.'

It's blowing my mind how many memorable movies he's been in.

Patch Adams
Aladdin
Good Will Hunting
Good Morning Vietnam
Mrs. Doubtfire
Dead Poets Society
Jumanji
Hook

Plus a host of others....
I thought he was funny but I liked him more as an actor than comedian. I think he was a better actor than comedian. A great talent, indeed.

The appropriate response is:

"Shazbat"

For all it matters Mork was an okay show but "introducing" the character on Happy Days was an 'well, we already jumped a shark' abomination and compelling evidence of just how far that once good show flew off the rails.

Was he a comic genius? I dunno. He had some mildly amusing movies.  His best role was as the genie in Aladdin because he was able to free wheel with few limits. He was quick witted and good at impressions. But genius? Not for me to say.  Because I'd say no.

He was quick witted

I'm thinking this is the part that makes him a genius as a comedian. Not only that he was quick witted but that he took this to a higher level that most. I have to think that some of the off the wall comic relief he let loose also had to do with him being considered bipolar. If in fact he was bipolar, thoughts carry a whole new meaning of reality. There is my 2 cents.

Go ahead and jump.  Gene keepin' it real.  from foxnewz dot to the  I am a gay twerker that has no balls!!!!  I also have no idea how to use the quote function to post stories, so I annoy the piss out of others.  I like male genatalia in and around my mouth.

Gene Simmons is not making many friends this week. First he went after American immigrants who don't speak English, and now the KISS rocker has some beyond strong opinions about those struggling with depression.

"Drug addicts and alcoholics are always, 'The world is a harsh place.' My mother was in a concentration camp in Nazi Germany. I don't want to hear f**k all about "the world as a harsh place." She gets up every day, smells the roses and loves life," the 64-year-old told SongFacts.com. "And for a putz, 20-year-old kid to say, 'I'm depressed, I live in Seattle.' F**k you, then kill yourself."

Unfortunately, he didn't stop there. "I never understand, because I always call them on their bluff. I'm the guy who says 'Jump!' when there's a guy on top of a building who says, 'That's it, I can't take it anymore, I'm going to jump,'" Simmons continued. "Are you kidding? Why are you announcing it? Shut the f**k up, have some dignity and jump! You've got the crowd."

His timing couldn't be worse seeing as the beloved Robin Williams committed suicide on Monday after years of struggling with depression himself. Needless to say, Simmons' remarks were not so well received, especially by one of his fellow rockers.

Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx, 55, commented on the shocking quotes during his radio show "Sixx Sense," saying, "I like Gene. But in this situation, I don't like Gene. I don't like Gene's words. There is a 20-year-old kid out there who is a KISS fan and reads this and goes, 'You know what? He's right. I should just kill myself.'"

He added, "For people who are depressed, there is a way out. There are many, many ways out…Don’t listen to people who don’t know what they’re talking about."

I like Gene, but he's way oversimplifying it here. Sixx is right.

And a better rocker anyway.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

They really did.  I went back through listening to some of their stuff about a week or so ago and there was some solid metal in there.

It always angered me when people committed suicide, sometimes it still does....but if there is one thing I've learned in the last few years is that we don't know how to cope with mental illness. No real strides in the medical field except trial and error with different kinds of prescription drug cocktails. Now, there are people who take the "easy" way out...for stupid reasons like bankruptcy or divorce or a fucking break up and that is bullshit. But for people with depression, I think it's a different ballgame. Suicide would be unfathomable to you or me, but their brains don't work like a normal person's. Just my thoughts.

But whatever his reasons were or weren't, I don't think he took the coward's way out. Long history of drug and alcohol abuse....but he put that belt around his neck stone cold sober. I think that was his fuck you to those demons.
