Actually, he argued that no one wore them period. Not at games, not around town, nowhere. They simply never left the shelf. Bama fans are so far over Bear Bryant that you simply never see anyone wearing houndstooth anything as an homage. Then of course when it became obvious how ridiculous that comment was, it switched to, "Yeah, but houndstooth's just an Alabama tradition. It has nothing to do with Bear. It's not a Bear Bryant thing. It's an Alabama thing."
