What's your favorite aspect of the offense?
« on: July 28, 2014, 12:18:39 PM »
What's your favorite aspect of Auburn's offensive attack and philosophy?

For me, it's the emphasis on the power run game. That's what separates this from other "spread" offenses. Each of those seem to have a wrinkle they hang their hat on - quick passes, mesh WR routes, option game, etc. I like the power-running emphasis Gus & co. employ.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

I love the fact that it is extremely adaptable.  I look for many more passing yards and TDs this season, which will open up the run game in the 4th quarter to simply dominate.

I like the conditioning, for more than the obvious reason.  I like watching the start to the fourth quarter, when the opposing D walks slowly on the field, hot, sweaty, tired, hands on hips, breathing heavy...

... and our guys trot out there, fresh as a daisy, and pound as hard in the fourth as they did in the first.  Makes all the damn difference in the world.  I know a lot of our games last year were won in the fourth quarter, but maybe some of that is a little bit by design?  We are able to score in the fourth instead of just pray to hold a lead because our guys aren't tired and theirs are. I have Gus say too many times that we always like our chances of winning if we are ahead or only a few points behind headed into the fourth quarter.
