I have always been a defense guy.  it's what I enjoyed playing and I loved having a gritty defense that would take your head off.  The game has changed though and defenses are penalized for punishing offenses so with that being the case I'm on the Gus bus now and want the offense running rough shot.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

^^^This. Or, Like. I love me some defense BUT, the game has changed. Offenses have learned and adapted to where they can nullify a physically superior defense by controlling the pace of the game.

I guess it really depends on how great either one is but on average, I'll take the great offense. As we have seen several times over the last few years, it certainly helps to have a good defense to go along with it. By nature, up tempo puts more pressure on the d when things aren't clicking.

For those that voted for the ham sandwich, this isn't anything to be so willy-nilly about. You should be ashamed.

If ham sandwich is not an option, the poll is null and void. Article VIII Section 7 Paragraph 4. It's all there in the manual. That's what Juno told me.

The question was would I rather have a great offense, a great defense or a great ham sandwich. A ham sandwich would benefit me way more as a person than either of the other two choices. Now if the question had read "would I rather Auburn University have a great offense, great defense or a great ham sandwich" the choice is a little different.

Running roughshod over the opposing team is also awesome, given the meaning of the idiom.  Maybe instead of cleats, CAP and the rest can have nails sticking out of their shoes.
Quote
roughshod:  adj.
1.  Shod with horseshoes having projecting nails or points to prevent slipping.
2.  Marked by brutal force: Stalin's roughshod treatment of the kulaks.
Idiom:  ride roughshod over
To treat with brutal force: a manager who rode roughshod over all opposition.

I think everybody's thinking has changed now that we've had a taste of what it's like to have teams with the capability to hang 40+ on any team in the nation.  But damn, I miss Tracy Rocker.

And a ham sammich would just be the titz right now.

See, in the past, the cliche was "Defense wins championships", and teams were built around that mantra, but today people like ham sandwiches.

There are French benefits that come along with that.
