To be fair, the Finebaum show has gone ballistic today because guys from ESPN are saying that Auburn is the clear cut favorite to win the SEC.
We've earned a mountain's worth.

Returning SEC Champions. A mommy part hair away from taking the National Title from the widely-proclaimed world beaters. Improved at virtually every position, both talent and depth wise. Did you see A-Day? We're going to be disgustingly good. I'm foaming at the mouth.

Hell, even Gus is saying "Go ahead and barn out. We're going to the National Championship again this year, except we're winning it this time." (Link)

Meanwhile McCarron, Manziel, Mettenberger, Murray, Shaw. All gone. And it ain't just the QB position looking bare at basically every other school in the SEC.

Everything on paper is saying we should absolutely skullfuck the competition this year. So all that means is maybe the experts won't pick us last pre-season for a change.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

When was the last time a prospect was labeled "The Best QB Ever, could beat out both Manning brothers and Marino with his eyes closed" coming out of HS or transferring in and actually reached that plat-toe located in the Heavens?

The uat fall off the Mountain will be hilariously beautiful as they smash their heads against every rock on the way down.

I'm inclined to agree.  I think they're due - overdue actually - for a true rebuilding year.  Every long term tenured coach has one or two.  Look at Les Miles and Mark Richt.  They can look to their own history and see Bear Bryant didn't win 11+ games every season.

But they aren't going to allow for it.  The type of reactions they'll have against Saban, his assistant coaches, and the players will stall the high speed momentum they have in recruiting.  Saban also doesn't seem like the guy who will accept being spat on by his own fanbase.  Those little tirades he has in press conferences won't go so well when he has four losses before December.

As bad as I want them to lose I don't see four losses.

I think they lose:

Ole Miss
LSU
Auburn

Teams they will struggle against:
West Virginia
MSU (Dak Prescott is a hoss, they scare me this year more than Ole Piss)

Do you remember the years Auburn didn't have a quarterback?

MosFrazTer?  Lost five games.  Could very easily have lost eight.  Lost games we didn't think there was a chance we would.  Lost some badly by the end.

Do you remember Trotter "battling Cam Newton for the starting job until the last day of practice?"  Yeah. Sure.

What if Coker is essentially Barret Trotter (which based on what I've seen is a reasonably apt comparison)?  Blake Sims is Kiehl or worse.  The guy behind him makes Moseley look good.

I've seen this movie before.  They're not going to fall completely off the rails, but nobody stays atop the mountain for more than three or four years at a run -- not even the sainted Bahr.  The cracks are there.  If this Coker lad isn't "the white Jameis Cam Winston Newton" they could become fissures.

That this kind of pecker gobbling passes for "journalism" just fuels that potential earthquake.
