I'm looking for the absolute worst regularly  appearing characters in a television show. Not one-timers or special guests. Regular cast.

My submission :

Howard Sprague of The Andy Griffith Show.

I loathe Howard Sprague. Piss poor replacement for Floyd. Just a sniveling jackhole. Who could possibly tolerate him in real life?

David Schwimmer's character from Friends, followed closely by all the other characters.

I wanted to see him skinned in Band of Brothers also, but I think that he was supposed to be unlikable then.

Fun fact:

Urkel did not appear on Family Matters until the 12th episode of the first season, and he was not intended to be a recurring character.

I don't think that show would have made it 9 seasons without him.
