Mason to address media at 1
« on: January 09, 2014, 12:56:30 PM »
I'm being selfish.  I want him to stay. Like Ronnie and Carnell did -- and gave us 2004.

But I understand if he doesn't.  There may be more talented players, but Tre is the heart of this team. It won't be the same if he goes.

I think he stays.  I think if he were going he just would have said it not addressed media.

I'll put a Mickey D's Happy Meal on it that he goes.  Why hold a press conference to say you're going to continue doing what you're doing?

Hope like hell I have to pay up.

CAP's had some good runs.  I remember him looking more like the power guy early in the season, and he also jukes people when needed.  He had a stellar touchdown run in the SECCG.

Mason did say that Barber was the most talented running back on the team before the season.  If we land Roc, I think we'll be in really good shape going into next year.

But you can't beat Tre's leadership and effort.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

We'll be in great shape if we find ample replacements for 2 very big players.  Greg Robinson and Jay Porsche.  As great as Tre is/was...you can't discount the fact that he was running behind what might have been the best O-line/fullback combo in the country.  At least as far as the running game is concerned.

Speaking of that...more in reference to CCTAU's comment.  Somebody wiff da' knowledge....schoolify me on the foosballz.  Does the RB have to know the read option or is it mostly on the QB to make the decisions?  It's always been my understanding that the RB knows where to go and hits the hole hard like John Holmes.  It's the QB's decision to either leave it with him or keep based on whatever the man he's reading does.  Amirite? Amirong?  If it's the QB making the decision, I believe as long as we have guys like CAP, who run north and south with conviction, we'll be fine. Corches?

Bottom line, teams be rushin' like a muthafucka under Malzahn.

Thanks for playing. I was waiting form someone to catch that. I played QB in an option offense. Typically it was my decision.

That being said, in the flurry of articles written before the BCSNCG, I read an article where NM said that Tre "knows" when he is getting the ball or not. That Tre sees what he sees and knows the read. i was astounded that these two were in such great harmony. Remember when Grant fumbled? After reading this, I thought back to that moment.

Now that Tre is gone, will our offense be AS prolific? Sure we will have guys that can run, but there is a difference. When CAP was in, mostly it was just a straight hand off.

If one of these guys can get in tune with the play like Tre was, we blow this thing up again. Or was Tre just that special. Or will we throw so much more that a RB cannot get in tune?

We will find out.

Robinson I think we will be ok.  Replacing Prosch is more of a concern.

Another player who hasn't gotten much love who I think we will miss immensely is Steven Clark.  Dude almost made a case for MVP in the MNC game.

Don't forget, Marshall flew in on the red eye the night before the season opener and didn't get much time to practice with Tre going into the first game.  He should have more time with the replacement

Maybe I'm wrong, but I get the feeling that we won't be calling as many read option plays next year.  I think we see more of a 2010 offense than the 2013 version.

Marshall got in so late, he barely slipped through the stadium gate as they closed after Tiger Walk (of course, he saw the rent-a-cop had committed to closing one gate first, so he slipped through the other and was gone)

Who do you think? Barber and Cap or Barber and Roc? I'm thinking Roc gets the red shirt, Barber is the starter and Grant is still the speed sweep guy.

Also, can Ford could push for pt at rb or will he be on d?

Thanks al.com.

Their guy asks tre if all the carries he was getting made him worry about the pounding he was taking and if that was a factor.

Tre looks perplexed. Says yeah he carried a lot but it was what he wanted.

Article says he was primarlly concerned with the high number of carries he was expected to get at AU.

Spin it however they can to make it look how they want
