Ellis Johnson vs. Nick Saban Offense

Let's go back to the 2010 Alabama-South Carolina game:

Alabama was 5-13 on 3rd downs and amassed 351 total yards.  Though, a majority of those were through the air.  Greg McElroy was 27-35 for 315.

Ellis Johnson really did a number on the Alabama rushing attack.  It was more of a bruising attack that year, but they were held to 36 yards on 29 carries.

Interesting to me was that USCe didn't have to capitalize on takeaways.  Alabama only turned the ball over 1 time in the game on a fumble.

Alabama did win the TOP battle with 32:27, and they did win the first down battle with 21 (compared to USCe's 20).

USCe had a much more stout defense than the 2013 Auburn defense, but at least there's comfort in knowing that Ellis Johnson knew how to gameplan for the balanced attack.  What's even better is that Johnson's plan was perfect in shutting down the Alabama rushing attack, and much like we've experienced this year, he seemed to do a good job bending but not breaking.  Alabama dinked and dunked save for a 51 yard TD pass, but for the most part, they moved the ball well until they got close to the endzone and had to settle for a field goal twice.

I just remembered that in 2009, Ingram's squatty ass went for 200+ against Ellis Johnson's defense.  So, uuhhh...   :move:

Even more recently another team roughed him up pretty good sometime around December, in Atlanta.
