Non-Auburn thoughts, Week One
« on: September 01, 2013, 02:05:10 PM »
A) Georgia. They are who we thought they were. Always. Find a way to choke when it matters.  Flubbed field goal, pfffttttt.  That's the air going out of the "this is the year" balloon early.

B) I HATE DABO SWINNEY.  I think you're required to shout that.  "Only non-SEC team to beat two top ten SEC teams in a rAAAW!"  When you have to do your own crowing, you don't have much to crow about.  Their schedule puts the uss in galore.  The only two real potential stumbling blocks now are South Carolina and FSU.  SC State, NC State, Syracuse, Wake, BC, Maryland, VA, Citadel and GA Tech.  Against that slate, I'd predict a 10-win AU season with Turtle or Freezer at the helm.  I've always sort of liked Clemson until that redneck jackass got there.  Not any more.

C) Manziel is a jackass. I've tried to be on his side, but can't any more (after next week).  Better earn what he can now, he'll never make it in the NFL.

D) Hate for Ole Miss is higher than ever.

E) Mississippi State sucks.

F) Don't much care about any of the rest of it.  ESPN wears on me with the build them up, tear them down mentality.

This - they were always kind of a cute little version of Auburn (albeit with a retarded Hobbs instead of Aubie)

They probably beat FSU and win out until South Carolina, except for their annual wtf?-loss, which may be at Maryland this year

- I thought I was going to hate missing the Alabama, LSU, and Georgia games because I was going to the Auburn game.  I was reminded how college football is only truly enjoyed when you're AT the actual game of the team you root for.  I couldn't care less about how those teams are doing until we play them.  I'll catch them on the flat screen of some rich dude's tailgate for a little while, but I really need to make enough money to go to more Auburn games.

- But speaking of those teams, meh on all three.  Alabama seems to be a vastly inferior team compared to the last five years.  They can ooh and aah all they want about those special teams returns, which were great, but Yeldon was held to under 100 yards.  Macaroon supposedly - from stats and what I read - looked like dog shit.  The offensive line was pushed around and unsure of how to dominate their opponent.  The defense was gashed a few times.  They've haven't had an opener like this in quite some time.  In 08, they dominated Clemson.  In 09, they dominated Virginia Tech.  In 10, they dominated San Jose and then dominated Penn State.  In 11 they dominated Kent State and then dominated Penn State.  In 12 they dominated Michigan.  And by dominated, I mean that they pushed them around, ran all over them, and had some nice pass plays.  Not quite the case this year.  But don't worry, they'll still go 13-1 and win the last BCSCG.

- Georgia - HAAA!  Lose, Bulldogs.  Lose and wonder why you can never win an NC.

- LSU looked like LSU.  Same team they always are.

- I love Johnny Manziel.  He doesn't give a shit about anybody but himself and he still scored 3 tds on 8 pass attempts.  He still had a great run, and he was such a threat that Texas A&M was able to bench him in the 4th and cruise to a victory.  On top of all that, he doens't give one iota of a shit that ESPN says about him so much so that he taunted the entire CFB world by signing autographs in the air and doing the "gimme money" pose with his hands.  Then he laughed himself off the field while still looking like an unstoppable athlete.   And finally, ESPN had their panties in a bunch all morning over his antics trying to teach him to grow up.  I hope he is the nail in their pathetic agenda pushing coffin. I hope he dominates Alabama while getting five unsportsmanlike conduct calls.  Fuck ESPN.

Clemson is the most perpetual dick-tripping FBS team of all time. Look for their mascot (8-Ball the Tiger) to crush up howard's rock and snort lines of it, while Dabo cries in sorrow during a blowout to a Ga Tech or something.

Even Herbstreit on Gameday said they'll "Clemson themselves" with Maryland or NC State. When you think Clemson is an underdog, they win. When they are supposed to beat a team, they'll lose. If they ever make it to a NC game, it'll be like dividing by 0

Agreed for the most part.  The defense actually looked somewhat improved, or perhaps better than I thought they would be, given what had to be replaced.  Even though VT's QB isn't a world beater by any means, he was held to 5/26 for 59 yards and 1 INT.  Half of their 153 rushing yards was from one run, in which Trey DePriest did his best Jake Holland impression.  The OL looked like total shit, which caused the offense to collapse.  Granted, VT'S front 7 were a little better than some thought, but they're not good enough that they should be able to dominate the OL like that.

The plus side of the OL issue is that it appears to be more of a communication issue than anything.  There were some times that they simply got pushed around, but alot of it looked like assignment issues.  Hopefully that will get ironed out as they continue to play together and gel.

I think right now the two most impressive looking teams in the SEC are LSU and USCe.

I really don't get Clemson.  Sure, beating UGA is a pretty big accomplishment.  That's cool.  But the way everybody acted last night was the same way they act when they beat any team that is perceived as being relatively good.  It was like they had just won the national championship.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

As long as he can back it up on the field, he'd simply doing what folks do these days.  K is right, he'll never make it I the NFL, but he will get a contract to give It s shot, and it's not as if he needs the cash anyway.  I don't know if his folks are NFL rich, but I don't think he's pretty well set as of now.
