AUBURN, Alabama - The old Student Activities center at Auburn University is no more, but has given way to a brand new 240,000-square-foot facility known as the Recreation and Wellness Center. Students and faculty got their first look inside today after a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The $72 million facility is home to a five-story rock climbing wall, a 45-person hot tub shaped like a tiger paw, and a fitness tower overlooking the sports complexes on campus.
According to a press release from the Auburn University Office of Communications, the center also holds the nation's longest indoor running track. The facility also offers eight basketball courts, a PGA golf simulator, racquetball courts, a multi-activity court, outdoor pool and leisure area, fire pit, strength equipment, cardio equipment, weights, circuit training, and various multipurpose rooms.
