OK, made it to St. Thomas and back in the A/C. Day two in DR was a drive over to Samana, the little town where the wife's mom grew up. Went to see these guys:

Had a good time, and it's a really beautiful area.
Day three was a trip to the beach at Boca Chica, which is kind of the Santo Domingo local's beach. Good time and a nice beach, but the vendors trying to sell you stuff gets a little annoying. And the try to sell almost everything you can imagine. Most of the normal stuff you would expect - food, clothes, floaties, CD's, jewelry, etc. Two things that kind of stood out to me was a guy selling Viagra, and another one trying to sell a taser.
Long day traveling today. At dinner a family sat down next to us and the dad was sporting an Auburn shirt. Said hey, turns out he's got the daughter brainwashed and she's starting in the fall.
