SEC Spending and Returns

I saw this from a post on the bunker. Not sure if this is accurate or not, however, if it is, how is JJ not being held accountable.

Shared with me - An Auburn business professor did a study of Southeastern Conference athletic programs over the past five years, comparing their success in four major sports, football, men's basketball, women's basketball and baseball with the money they invested in athletics in the 2010-2011 academic year.

In 2005 through 2012, Auburn spent, on average, $100 million on athletics annually, third most in the SEC. In competition, it was tied 10th in the SEC with Ole Miss - fifth in football, 10th in men's basketball, eighth in women's basketball and 10th in baseball.

Florida was first in spending and first in competition. LSU was fourth in spending and second in competition.

Here's how the programs stacked up, including the average combined finish, in the four sports studied:

1. Florida 3.5,
2. LSU 4.0,
3. Kentucky 5.5,
4. Tennessee 5.8,
4.Vanderbilt 5.8,
6. Alabama 6.8,
6. Georgia 6.8,
6. South Carolina 6.8,
9. Arkansas 7.3,
10. Auburn 8.3,
10. Ole Miss 8.3,
12. Mississippi State 12.3.

Here's how they stacked up in spending on athletics (in millions):

1. Florida 113,
2. Tennessee 102,
3. Auburn 100,
4. LSU 96,
5. Alabama 92,
6. Georgia 83,
6. South Carolina 83,
8. Kentucky 82,
9. Arkansas 90,
10. Vanderbilt 50,
11. Ole Miss 49,
12. Mississippi State 44.

Georgia, South Carolina, Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Miss State are getting almost exactly what they're paying for...

Vanderbilt and Kentucky are both getting a big return on investment...

And, then, there's Auburn.

Spending more, and getting less.  Isn't that the international business model for success?
