(Bobby) Bentley is a former national high school coach of the year, who has spent the last four years working as the offensive coordinator at Byrnes High School in Duncan, S.C., which is widely considered one of the nation's most elite high school programs. Bentley won four straight state championships as Byrnes' head coach before leaving to coach at Presbyterian College in 2007, but has since returned to Byrnes as offensive coordinator and the school district's athletic director.SportsTalk, a local sports radio show in South Carolina, confirmed late last week that Bentley was offered a job by Malzahn and Auburn. Bentley later, however, released a statement via his Twitter account saying that he had turned down the offer."I am committed to District 5 and Byrnes," Bentley tweeted. "I have not taken a job at any other school and will be coaching at Byrnes."

It is pretty well agreed that Gus needed to clean house and bring in his own folks no matter who they might be. If everyone really agrees that you give the man the keys to the program and let him drive then you stay the fuck out of his way and let him do it his way. Anything less is nothing more than the micromanaging that everyone swears that they cannot stand in the first place.
