Nick Saban Thinks You Have to Win Your Division to Go BCS Bowling

Quote
There are high stakes for the upcoming SEC championship game between No. 2 Alabama and No. 3 Georgia.

The winner will play for a national title. The loser likely will slip out of the BCS bowls entirely, falling behind No. 4 Florida. That would put the Gators in the Sugar Bowl.
Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban does not think that is fair.
“It’s not really a great scenario,” he said Sunday on a teleconference. “You play your way into the (SEC) championship game, which means you’re the best team in your division… It doesn’t seem quite right, but it is what it is. I don’t really know what me commenting about it is going to do to change it. But I don’t feel good about it.”

Saban and Gators coach Will Muschamp are longtime co-workers. They were together at LSU and with the Miami Dolphins.
Here was Muschamp’s response this afternoon: “Well, I can switch and go to Atlanta if he doesn’t want to go to Atlanta and play the Dawgs. Be careful what you ask for, Nick.”
Florida (11-1) is virtually guaranteed a spot in the Sugar Bowl. The Gators are No. 4 in the BCS and should not finish third or fourth. The top four teams are assured spots in BCS games as long as no conference sends more than two teams. It will be hard for a two-loss Alabama or Georgia team to stay ahead of the Gators.

What's going to be really fucked up is next year with the 4 team playoff.

What are they going to do then? Send SEC winner and UF instead of the top two division winners?

Interesting point from another (non Auburn) board.

Quote
Alabama is Oklahoma St. - Fine season, won their conference, good team, but struggled in their only big games of the year. Lost at home and was down by 20. Actually, 2011 Oklahoma St had a better resume than 2012 Alabama.

Florida is Alabama - Really great season, lost a close hard fought game to the #3 team on a NEUTRAL field while committing 6 tunrovers. Has wins over 4 Top 10 BCS teams including 2 on the road. Actually, 2012 Florida has a better resume than 2011 Alabama.

Oh...the eye test....sorry. Got it now.  :taunt:

One difference though...If bama beats UGA they can say we beat the team that beat UF.  If UGA wins they beat UF and deserve to go.

The team that gets the shaft IMO is Oregon.  Because they don't get to go simply by losing when they did.  If Oregon had lost the weekend bama did, and bama lost the weekend Oregon did. Their rankings would be reversed.

Really?!?!?! What about last year's BCS game there Saban. Bypassing the SECCG to the BCS game is not ok?

That assumes there IS a thought process.  More like monkeys + typewriters + 1000 years = Shakespeare.

So can UF.

They beat A&M.

They pulled them & LSU from the West, while Bama only faced UT & Missouri.

After Bama, A&M, & LSU, the west is far weaker than USC, or hell even Missou & Vandy. Possibly even UT.

And UF only lost to a very good Georgia Team (read: better than A&M) by one possession at a neutral site.

Remove the Saban knob slobbing and it's clear to see UF deserves to be in the championship far more than Alabama deserved it last year.

I appreciate that, but unfortunately, if we are the only two people of opposite gender left after the black helicopters come, mankind is still doomed.

She's not my type, plus I can love without having intimacy (above, I was being sarcastic). I'm just more interested in friends anyway. My dysfunction has reared it's ugly head, or not. LOL.

King Hypocrite:
Says that committed prospects should be off limits to other Universities, especially if they've been committed for a year or so, that maybe a rule should be put in place (talking about Auburn going after Reuben Foster), that's after he has taken a handful of committed prospects away from Auburn...and still trying to take a few more away.

states that he doesn't like the HUNH and thinks that it's bad for the College game and that it puts tired defenders at risk of being hurt and that maybe a rule should be put in place to limit the pace more (the week of their game against Missouri, who runs the no huddle type offense) and then he turns around and runs the HUNH against Auburn (like it would've mattered if our Defense was tired or not).

Now this bullshit? Give me a fucking break. If UGA somehow beats uat (uat's 3rd real game of the season), I'm hoping they get stuck in the Outback Bowl.

I'm sure I've missed more of the sabben hypocrisy, that was just off the top of my head.
