I really feel sorry for the players
« on: November 20, 2012, 01:17:00 PM »
This weekend, they know what's coming, they know there are not prepared, and they know it's going to be a long afternoon.

Right after being fired at the end of the game CGC should apologize to the entire team for his poor coaching and lack of leadership.

A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America ' for an amount of 'up to and including my life.' That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.'

Right after the game?

He wouldn't know if it was his poor coaching and lack of leadership until he went and watched film.

And it's already been established we fire on Wednesdays after the Iron Bowl...if we fire at all.

Not sure what I feel like where the players are concerned.  Heard too many reports of them not giving a shit and cutting up/laughing when things went bad.  I think it's a 50/50 deal.  It's obvious the coaches (Chizik) instilled no discipline, but nobody stepped up as leaders and said enough of this shit. It's one thing to have crappy schemes and playcalling, there Leftlertz.  But it's another thing completely to do little if anything to improve and instead, continue being a worthless sloth..Senior John Sullen.  Gabe Wright had all the credentials coming out of HS.  Size, strength, speed.  He blew shit up.  Granted, I think he's been playing better lately, but has anyone noticed this guy's physique.  He's got a gut like Andre Tits Smith and his arms look like he hasn't trained since he got to AU.  Jeffrey Whitaker?  Don't even go there.

I agree it's one thing to not develop your players.  But these guys aren't stupid.  They don't have to have someone hold their hands and lead them into the weight room. They've been allowed to be lazy, no fire...and apparently, they've taken full advantage.  IF...someone new comes in, I imagine there's going to be a fairly big weeding out process.  These guys haven't had grueling, physical practices where they hit til they drop.  They haven't been forced to take their strength and conditioning to new heights.  They've had assistant coaches waiving towels and shouting Num nurra, instead of "Put that damn cell phone down or I'll shove it up your ass."

This is just my armchair QB, outside looking in take.  But from everything I've seen, read and heard, it sure looks that way to me.

You'll have a few certain kids that will do the work regardless, keep a good attitude.  Vast majority are going to follow the lead of of the pack, and the head man, and do what they can get away with.  It's why you have coaches.  The players are a reflection of the culture of the program, headed up by Chizik.  So, you can't blame the players.  They've been allowed to get to this point.  I do feel for them too.  Lots of these kids were duped in to thinking they were signing up to be on a championship program.  Probably more than a couple that had NFL potential had they been developed too.

I kept hoping all season that a few of them would step up and take on a leadership role.  Lutz tried, but really nobody else has even bothered.  That disgusts me almost as much as the coaching job I have seen out of this group.

I understand what you are saying, but I have to ask.  What they fuck would they lead? If the coaches don't care why should the players.

I get that, but the real players have that fire in their belly.  I don't see anything but belly.

And that's one of, if not, the major problem, we have 13 Seniors. Only one is a vocal type leader and he's not that good of a player (T-Bell) and 5 others are lead by example types (Blake, Lutz, McCalebb, Sullen, & Bates).

Another stellar senior class.  Blake, Lutz, McProne, Bates and Bell (Somewhat) will be missed. J. Evans, Jamar Travis, Travante Stallworth, Ashton Richardson, Ikeem Means, John Sullen, Anthony Morgan, Deangleo Benton..will not.

That's kinda the problem.  Sullen, early on for instance, was an over-achiever in the first place, and has regressed the last 2 seasons.  Benton, never came close to reaching potential.  Richardson, a walk on, was as good as 4 star Holland in the end!

I've never seen a staff ruin or fail on so many players.

It's not a fail, we have to look at the tape and keep evaluating.

I hate hearing that every week.  Hey Coach, it's week 12, I think the time for evaluating is over.
