Oct. 17, 2012The list of celebrities for next week's Home Run Derby will have a very professional baseball feel to it as four current and three former major leaguers will join three current minor leaguers in the annual event. Headlining the event, which will take place at 7pm on Friday, Oct. 26 at Plainsman Park, will be current Atlanta Braves Tim Hudson and Kris Medlen. The event, in its ninth year, will pit five pitchers against five position players. The pitchers will have temporary fencing installed while the position players will have to hit balls out of the ballpark. Each player will get 10 outs and any swing that does not result in a home run is an out.Joining Hudson and Medlen on the pitching team will be current Toronto Blue Jay reliever and former Auburn hurler Evan Crawford, Chris Bootcheck, who was a first-round pick out of Auburn in 2000 and played six years in the big leagues, and Matt Guerrier, a current reliever for the Los Angeles Dodgers. The five position players will be Wes Helms, a 12-year MLB veteran, current Auburn volunteer assistant coach Gabe Gross, who was also a first-round pick out of Auburn in 2001, and current minor leaguers and former Auburn baseball players Dan Gamache (Pittsburgh Pirates), Ryan Jenkins (Kansas City Royals) and Trent Mummey (Baltimore Orioles).A minimum $2 donation is requested at the gate, with all proceeds going to the Hudson Family Foundation, which is partnering with the Auburn baseball team for a second straight year.Chance-to-win tickets will be issued to individuals based on every $5 donated. Auburn Diamond Dolls are currently accepting donations and there will be tables set up throughout the event at the stadium. All winners will be selected throughout the event. Prizes will include autographed memorabilia from the participants as well other great prizes.
Some dude named Evan Crawford won the home run derby.
He's the hottest guy in MLB. I've decided to be a Jays fan...
You know, I told the dude he looked like tony romo and I ought to be ashamed.
