Brian Downing, arrested for teabagging an LSU Tigers fan in a restaurant on Bourbon Street after last year's BCS Championship game, pled guilty to two obscenity charges today and will serve a two-year jail sentence. He was able to avoid a trial and more extensive jail time by reaching a plea deal with the prosecutors.


Downing would have faced as much as a 10-year sentence and been forced to register as a sex offender if he were convicted on the sexual battery count.

In Jan 2011 I was in Opelika/Auburn for the game-Watched it Opelika and went to Auburn for the celebration, maybe had a few too many beers, yelled maybe a little too loud went back to Opelika and overall had a blast.

At no time did the thought of taking my nuts out and doing anything with them cross my mind.

  I agree.  JR can speak to this far better than I but I think our sentencing guidelines are way out of whack.  You can get less time for killing someone than feeling up some breastesseses.

He was a Grad from UT and working as some Asst manager for a sports store in Columbus ( I think i am right)

Stepping back, and not looking through orange and blue glasses, which, when I look at this that way, makes me smile...but taking them off...yeah, this kind of thing is "acceptable" among that generation as a method of dissing someone, and it was not done for sexual gratification.  Yes, 2 years is excessive IMHO, but the problem here is it was videoed.  People saw it.  Grown people who don't think that shit is acceptable at all, .  Had this victim simply reported this (had he been able) and no video, then I'd wager it was a complete non-starter.

As someone said earlier about the paper not reporting if the sentence was suspended...how much actual time do you think he'll spend?  All of it?  A few months?  Any way he stays out completely?
