The LSU game is my favorite of the year. I'm from New Orleans, so it's a good game for me to talk to my family about. My dad's a big LSU fan.
Best of all, it's a great excuse to cook cajun food.
It's an intense rivalry game between two teams that share the same mascot. It's not a rivalry of hate (Alabama) or a rivalry of inconvenience (Georgia, which is just a blip before the Iron Bowl).
It's a rivalry that should have a huge impact on the SEC West.
Worst LSU Game - Obviously last year. That was the first time I really saw the Auburn Tigers lay down to an opponent. By the 2nd half, their players were using kickoff as a means of practicing kill shots. I had strolled into the football weekend with confidence. Auburn was going to be Auburn. Auburn was going to, as always, shock the world and announce our presence in the SEC. But we didn't. We had our buttholes stuffed into our throats and limped away wondering what the hell was going on with our team.
Best LSU Game - I'm going to go unconventional - 2007 in Baton Rouge. A very close game with plenty of action and a thrilling loss at the end when Matt Flynn connected with Byrd in the back of the endzone. Sure, it was a loss. That sucked. But the experience was the best. I had never been to a game in Baton Rouge. I got to hang out all day eating the best tailgate food I've ever had and spent the entire time with family. Had plenty of LSU fans talk trash to me, but they were generous with their Abitas and food. We had great seats in the Auburn section, watched Mike the Tiger growl about fifteen feet in front of us, and afterwards, watched a drunk LSU girl walk around with her chest exposed screaming Tiger Bait.
Obviously, 2004 is the best game, and 2006 was the hardest hitting close game I've ever seen (talk about heart from a football player, Brandon Cox, wow), but 2007 is the more vivid memory for me.
