Ive yet to see Jake attack the LOS when it's a run. He waits to catch the runner, usually getting blocked in the process.
The pics prove, or should, that this isn't about any changes in scheme, it's about not being physically prepared to play a Sun Belt team. That's not about strength and conditioning (though that could be a factor too), but fundamental technique. In this defense, every DL should keep his gap responsibility arm and shoulder free. In those pics, every single player is squared up by a blocker. The run fits by the backers are non-existent.
We suck, and it's not just Jake and Frazier.
And what I saw Sat was even when we do have someone hit the hole and meet the runner at the line of scrimmage they attempt to shoulder tackle, runner bounces off and gains more yards. I don’t recall their runner being stopped at the line of scrimmage by a linebacker or defensive back when we filled the hole with one of them.
I thought this was going to be an attack defense? I call it a react defense, let the play happen and move towards the ball, they blistered us up the middle and with that crossing route.
At no time did I see CBG ever get in anyone’s face about their play. It’s one of two things, either he knows what he has and is aware of it, or he hamstrung by the head coach.
We are going to get CRUSHED by LSU-Bama-Dawgs. I am not only talking about the score but physically also. And here in lies another problem-I saw after plays ULM guys getting up and shoving ours guys and our guys just walk away. We have no killer instinct, no mojo about us.
I heard someone says that teams like ULM and Utah State are just getting closer to us in performance. I thought to myself, Nope we are just getting closer to them in talent.
