I don't agree with Travis, just posted what he said. I am a bit more nervous that I think I should be at this point though. I think we were lucky to walk away from the Dome losing by single digits. We will face a couple of backs this year similar to Ellington and that scares me a bit, especially with Jake Holland at MLB. Although Wes and Prowler made good points about the nickel.

The "Auburn bought Cam" line he leads in with on all articles Auburn are merely his feeble attempt to fan the flames and turn heads for a lot of his SEC readers who still want to hear it. You have to take the good and bad with Travis. He writes some pretty good articles on the Bammer fanbase but he also wrote a hit piece (along with Brooks) on our hostesses.

Seriously - it's an attention getter. You have to remember that the Bams hate him but are probably his biggest audience. Call it a carrot on a string. But he's still a douche for getting that "bought Cam" quip in. EVERY SINGLE TIME.

I think it does get one thinking as dallas said in his first post in the thread: what if we do go full tard the rest of the year? then what? These next couple of games will set that tone. And for Auburn's sake I hope we turn it around because I do NOT want 2008 all over again.

Now, how many games difference does that make in wins in 2011?  I say 1 at most and I think that game would have been Clemson.  Could have made Arky a good bit closer because we had a couple of glimmers of hope in that game.  Otherwise, our collective shit was pushed in hard by Arky, LSU, Georgia and Alabama.  Closer games? Proabably not much closer because AU was outmanned on both sides of the ball in all those losses and Cam would have been lucky to make it through the season with his style. 

Point being, Cam doesn't win the MNC without one of the most senior laden and experienced teams in the nation.  Granted, they don't win it without him either but I want to pistol whip every mofo who says 2010 was all Cam.

Most of this has already been covered in some capacity, but...

1) He uses flame-bait like Auburn "bought" Cam. Worthless.

2) He doesn't even know what year we "bought" him for. If he can't keep straight who the national champions were in the last 3 years (hint: it's only been two teams and they kind of, for better or worse, are considered a pair), then your analysis is probably not going to be top notch.

3) As Yoda said, he is trying to lump 5-19 in with the rest of it for dramatic effect. RWS fell for it with the Shula comment.

The fact of the matter is, Chizik is 16-10 at Auburn (not 21 & 30) "if you Take Away Cam".

4) "If you take away Cam" is asinine in and of itself. For Urban Meyer, at Florida alone, "If you take away Tebow", he was 17-8. One less win and one more game overall. Yet he's still revered as a coaching God and the "without Tebow" argument never surfaces.

Gonna say more than one, his talent alone gets us that one plus others; his leadership gets us at least one more. We were not a run threat from the QB position last year; with him still back there you have to respect that.

Agreed.  A lot of our problem last year was inability to sustain drives/convert 3rd downs.

Cam would have been a lifesaver in that respect.

I think with him we may have beat Clemson and Arkansas.  We were in that Arkansas game until that pitiful no holding call that allowed Adams to break off an 80+ year run on us.  That broke us and we quit.  He may have helped keep the game close against UGA, but I don't think we would have beat them, nor do I think we would have beat LSU or bama last year.
