Without Cam in 2009, Auburn is probably a 7-6 or 8-5 team. (Hell, even with Cam they almost lost three or four games).

There's a very good chance that Chizik's Tigers arrive at Vandy sitting at 2-4 on the season. Go ahead and circle this game now because that's the game that will determine whether or not Auburn can get to a bowl. The next 2, maybe 3 games will tell you exactly what this team is made of. We have a SEC team we should beat, a patsy we should pound and an SEC team that is better than us. Will we look like shit against LSU? I don't mind a loss to LSU but I can't take another blowout. Miss State? Sorry, but if we lose this game that's underachieving. We have loads more talent than MSU. Anything other than a 3+TD win against La-Monroe is full of fail too (see Utah State 2011). I hope (and think) this team will get better but the next 3 games will be a teetering point of whether we get better and make solid strides or whether we become unraveled. That's just the honest truth.

I'm not chicken little like a lot of fuckers are on here but I'm also not going to be naive to the fact that we have some glaring issues that do NOT seem to have gotten any better the last 2 years. New DC, a year's more experience with a great pass rush and still almost 600 yards of offense given up? Sorry, but that's a little excessive. I didn't expect to give up 300 yards or less every game and right off the bat - but shit, 600 yards?? And would have been closer to 700 if Clemson's WRs knew how to catch.

I've always maintained that if 8 wins is the low water mark for a coach, and he can produce teams to compete for championships, or win them with some regularity, then I'm ok with that.  Sorry, I give Chiz credit for 2010.  You can lose with talent, but you can't win without it.    Under this way of thinking Dye should have been run off after '85, while having one of the greatest players in CFB history for 4 years, with no NC to show for it, and pretty mediocre teams in 84 and 85.

I don't think it is just because we lost, I think it is because we got our shit pushed in against our main competition and we pretty much start the year off no better (on defense)

If anything I think Chiz deserves credit for winning the NC with all of the bullshit going on in the background during the run/keeping the team focused. I also give Gus credit.. he had all of the cogs and wheels needed for his offense to work. Plus, as much of an athlete that Cam was.. he had a beast of an O-line in front of him. Plus no way we win some of those games without the D-line that was in place at the time. I think Josh Bynes was underrated in his contributions from a leadership perspective as well.

I hear/see all of the Bammers say "no Cam=9 wins," and it reminds me of how little many of them know about football in respect to their ability to run their mouths. Cam was/is a freak, but not the only reason that 2010 happened.

To me the biggest reason to throw this out the window is that dumbass Travis is including Chizik's time at Iowa St in his "statistics".  Now some might say I am a chicken little but to do the above and take out Newtons season is fucking stupid.  The facts are that he did have 2 8-5 seasons and a 14-0 season while coaching at Auburn.
