There's no bias here....
« on: August 13, 2012, 03:38:58 PM »
The NCAA interviewed Julio Jones after he signed with bammer, and again after he signed with bammer over the fishing trip situation, but we didn't hear a peep about his initial interview in any local papers or on Sports Center, and the second one, the only time they mentioned it was after it was over, and bammer was found to have "done nothing wrong".

They barely took a PR hit from a major violation with the Text book thing. No one apparently even knew the investigation was going on until it was over and bammer was awaiting penalties.

Marcel Dareus barely got a slap on the wrist for attending an agent party, and it was barely covered in the press.

Jarrel Harris's laptop is never mentioned in the press, and certainlydidn't make ittonational news despite getting a 6 game suspension.

The NCAA interviewed Brent Calloway after his flip back to bammer, and itnevermade the newsthat they even talked to him.

T-Town Menswear ordeal, no implication by the media (outside of Clay Travis and SBB) of anything done wrong.

TJY flips under weird circumstances, no accusations at all from media.

Meanwhile, at Auburn:

Trovon Reed and Greg Robinson were interviewed, the implication by the local and national media was Auburn cheated. The NCAA found nothing we did wrong.

NCAA interviewed the Arkansas guy that was assisting athletes with recruiting, it gets reported by the media as a "major black cloud" hanging over Auburn. Once again, the NCAA found we didn't do anything wrong.

NCAA drug the Newton's through the muck, local and national media reports Auburn toreceive Death Penalty, and the NCAA finds nothing we did wrong.

Varez Ward makes national news for "point shaving" allegations. No chargesfiled, story dissappears when he isn't found guilty.

You left out our own beatwriter calling the NCAA and reporting violations every week.  All of that stuff ties to him tipping people off.

Hola, this is my first ever post on these boards.  Mid-80's Auburn grad here.  I'm a fairly skeptical person.  I hate conspiracies and irrational linking of coincidences.  I've seen that crap so many times from different fanbases and Auburn isn't immune to it.   While I'm still on the fence a bit about the REC and their power, this whole media slant is definitely starting to chap my butt.   Seems all these Auburn investigations get out in the press right when they start while other schools have investigations in the quiet.  It's beyond annoying.

Ya know, I'm not the conspiracy theory type guy. I've always thought that the Alabamer press and REC get too much credit for doing damage to AU and damage control for UAT. Still believe that BUT the reasons you post are legit this time. It seems that since Saban has been HC at UAT, it has been more this way than in the past. How can his relationship with Mark Emmert not help UAT? The man hired Saban one time and they are reportedly pals. I'm sure they've had to cool their love-fest since Emmert became the head dude at NCAA but I'm sure they still send love letters. My theory, Saban turned red when RF read the TJ Yeldon decommittment speech and this NCAA snooping is a direct result. Nothing here folks. Our coaches may be agressive recruiters but that's all. I don't believe they are stupid. And they knew what the implications of this flip would be, so gotta believe it's a clean break.
