From what I can tell, this guy signed a LOI with Bama in 08. So he chose not to walk on hot coals to play for Saban and instead played pro baseball? Then decided he wanted to go to college to play football?

Can you do that?

Can you do that?

Yes you can. As long as they never set foot on campus then their commitment is non-binding after a year.

To answer my own question, apparently so.

Supposedly he has 5 years of eligibility despite already being the same age as the Seniors. Holy shit.

By the way, he's older than Cam Newton and has the full five years of eligibility left to play.

At least years aren't typically measured in fractions so you may be ok.

My bud told me this morning that Chiz didn't say anything glowing about him, and said "he's been away from football a long time". My bud was not optimistic based on this. I reminded him he was still involved in athletic pursuits, and that age/maturity go a long way in this sport. I wouldn't expect Chiz to say anything that would get anybody's hopes up, even if Chiz was optimistic. Chiz is all about teh coach speak. He could be a very nice add, if not this year, next. I have a feeling he will be an early pleasant surprise.
