THIS GUY!!!

I've said it before, and I'm well aware that it's homerific to the core.

There is literally not any other coach in the NCAA right now that I would prefer over Gene Chizik. Not has-been Spurrier, not dumb-luck Miles, not supreme-asshole Saban. Not perennial also-ran, never won a MNC, only won two SEC championships in 12 years (both in the first five) Richt.

add the "hasn't put the football program on probation"

1. sabbin
2. Miles
3. Chizik
4. Pinkel
5. Spurrier

Believe sanctions followed Saban at MSU and LSU.

USCe just took the long dick of the NCAA.

Got to agree with this.  Hard to say the jury is still out after the guy brought us our first MNC in decades.  But there's still a lot of questions for me.  I give him full credit for all the positives and people like us who follow this program, know full well some of the shitty cards he was dealt.  I'll say this, if we lose 5 games this year and a couple of them are of the woodshed, ass reaming variety...where no doubt in my mind, the team quit...LSU...Georgia...then those questions grow larger.

On the other hand, if we lose 5 games and we literally have that "Wait til next year" feeling because we know without a doubt this program is on it's way back to the top...I'm perfectly fine with that.

Well, it hasn't happened yet, so this is purely hypothetical.

I haven't heard any talking heads' predictions yet, but I'd be surprised if they have us at more than 7 regular season wins. I imagine we're dogs against LSU, Arkansas, Georgia, & Bama. Clemson, MSU, & aTm are probably considered "too close to call".

That being said, I personally think that schedule looks more like a 9-3 +-1 type of season.

7-5 would disappoint me. I've got to believe the combination of a more favorable home/away schedule, the new coordinators, and the hope/belief that we build on last season rather than regress, means that we we get at least one extra win.

A coach is only as good as his last victory...or 12.

I will say if we lose 5 this year I wouldn't have a pitchfork ready, unless we looked like uber dogshit. Next year would be the determining year.

If this were the golden years of football, I'd follow Chizik no matter what.  I like the way he runs the program.  I like how he handled the NCAA investigations and the baseless accusations.  I like how our team has energy and excitement.  I like how he recruits.  I like him as our coach because he embodies the characteristics of an Auburn person.

I would be fine winning some and losing some with Gene Chizik.

But these aren't the golden years.  These are the winning years, and like most fans of college football teams, I have to assume that every single one of us will be sporting pitchforks if we have another season like this past one.

I think the situation at Ark will lead to a shitty season.  Clemson already has issues, and unless Dabo completely flaunts lack of discipline in everybody's faces, Watkins won't play against us, and we will be a complete unknown to them on both sides of the ball.  MSU?  Pffft!  aTm?  Well they're bringing that gimmicky Air Raid offense that everybody knows doesn't work in the SEC, and they have a defense built (at least in theory) to stop spread passing teams of the Big 12.  We will be nothing like that.  LSU, UGA, and Bammer, are the only 3 I'm counting as Ls right now, and that could change if Frazier comes out looking good early, and the defense is improved.

This is pretty much my thought process that landed on 3 L's still being the benchmark for what would be considered a "good" season.

The only time I've been truly disappointed in a Chizik-coached team was the shitty loss to Kentucky at home.  That was awful.

I didn't like getting ass planted by Georgia and Alabama and LSU.  We should be competitive.  But what we had at quarterback -- worst excuse for an SEC quarterback I've seen since Gabe Gross shit himself at Tennessee in some long distant year -- I can almost overlook it.

I wonder HOW we ended up with Clint Turtle Moseley at quarterback and why he got to play ahead of Trotter who was clearly more mobile, more accurate and more versatile.  That concerns me a little (and obviously pissed Trotter off).  Was it an inability to accurately judge ability?  Was there something behind the scenes?

Then I think of the (in retrospect almost desperate) plea to get Russell Wilson and think... hmmm..  what sort of difference would he have made?  Closer games against Bama, LSU and UGA?  We'd have beaten Clemson.  That's about the extent of it.  We didn't have a defense capable of beating any of those teams i'm afraid.  Or maybe we did if we could have moved the ball even a little.

I don't like getting blown out.  Some of that I can forgive last year.  But that can't go on for long.  I don't give a fuck what the shit eating media in this state and Mel Kiper say, Alabama isn't THAT good.  Neither is LSU.
