2 questions:

Was there a game Saban lost last year that perhaps he shouldn't have?

Was there a game Chizik lost last year that he should have won?

Every game we lost, we were supposed to lose. We also beat SC and FLA which we were also supposed to lose.

Bama should have won every game they played, but didn't.

They can shove that logic up their asses.

Games Auburn weren't supposed to win but did:
2009:
West Virginia
Tennessee
Even though we shouldn't count moral victories...we were supposed to be blown out by Georgia and Alabama.

2010:
Mississippi State
Clemson
South Carolina
Arkansas
LSU
Georgia
Alabama

But I forgot that since Cam Newton was such a great player, all of those media fucks like Matt Hayes who predicted Auburn to lose those games are pardoned.

2011:
Mississippi State
South Carolina
Florida

And another thing -

What players in college football history are on Cam Newton's level?

Herschel Walker? Georgia lost 2 games in 1981 and one in 1982.
Bo Jackson? Auburn lost 3 games in 82, one in 83, four in 84, and four in 85.
Michael Vick? Virginia Tech never went undefeated.
Reggie Bush?  USC lost a few games.
Tim Tebow?  Zero undefeated seasons.

The point is that a legendary, spectacular player does not automatically equal an undefeated season.  Why would anyone criticize Chizik for not only recruiting but knowing how to utilize a player like Cam AND knowing how to foster team chemistry?

Good point.

Add to that Vince Young too. Although he had many troubles being "that" superstar before Texas' magical season. What did Cam do before Auburn? Oh yeah, won a Juco NC. Suck on it Tebow.

Part of me understands the reasoning if you're the casual fan looking at at it from the outside.  If you're a fan of say...Texas..whoever...that's the assumption you make about Chizik's coaching performance to this point.  Two 8-5 seasons on either side of being lucky enough to strike gold with Newton.  I get it.  It's fair for Joe Schmoe in Bumfuck, Nebraska to see it that way.  But not Matt Hayes.  It's his job to actually look at the situation as a whole and understand what Chizik and staff have dealt with since he's been here.

It's his job to know that 2010 was as much about senior leadership and experience across the board as it was Cam Newton.  It's his job to know that team was absolutely gutted because of Tommy Tuberville's poor recruiting efforts his last two years.  Not saying Chizik should be in the top 3.  He's still got a lot to prove with his own players.  But Hayes' reasoning shows he did nothing more than act like the fan in Bumfuck.

Most predicted a loss to La Monroe (or was it Tech) in Chizik's debut.

Matt Hayes doesn't live in Alabama. He doesn't live 15 mins from campus like me. He doesn't go onto our campus often. He doesn't live amongst our hated rivals who think its funny to rub their nuts on another dude's mouth or kill 150 year old trees over a football game. He is not a donor, a booster or a ticket holder.

Because of the lack of all these things, he cannot see how a Mr. Gene Chizik has totally changed the culture of our entire program. There is unity, he has good kids (if you are not, you won't be in Auburn long), the fans are content with him, there is a different atmosphere on campus. Does he win every game? No, but he wins the games we should win for the most part with a couple of upsets that go our way. He recruits lights out and nationally. He is willing to make the moves and changes that his predecessor was not willing to do. This is a business to a certain degree and he understands that. But he also knows who drives the program - the fans and donors. I've said it before - Chizik (like Dye) treads a perfect line of winning ball games, having fun in the process and appealing to the fans. Although I'm sure some of Dye's former players would disagree on the fun part.

THIS, is what Matt Hayes doesn't understand because from his view it is impossible to see these things. He is not one of us. I bet you though that an objective journalist that resides in our backyard and sees these things understands - hint: Tony Barnhart.

That's my point.  He's writing like the casual fan and putting things out there that have no validity.  If you're a professional writer and you're going to do a piece like this and give your reasoning, it's your job to do a little research and find out those things you mentioned.  You don't have to live here or be an Auburn man or woman to find out what he's done in recruiting.  To know that Cam Newton was a part...a very big part of a senior laden team that would have kicked a lot of ass with or without him.  To know what hand he was dealt by graduation, attrition etc.  You call yourself a professional...then put in a little work and don't just make shit up.  The "defense" line just broke the camel;s back.

You're correct. I think they officially added the 2007 ULM loss to Shula's record.

I also forgot to add, that Sabinz puts 5 NFL players in the first round of the NFL draft off a NC team, and it's because he's a great recruiter and coach.  Chiz gets players and wins, then "he can't win without great players".

Fixed it for ya.

That list is just another one that shows how stupid the "sports journalists", or whatever the fuck they're called, are.  Any Head Coach that exceeds expectations by almost half every year for three years straight, gets a pretty big bump up, in my book...add the "winning the National Championship" to that, now you're talking a bump up even higher...add the "hasn't put the football program on probation" too, that's another bump up.  Here's my top five.

1. sabbin
2. Miles
3. Chizik
4. Pinkel

Without debating others in your top five, which I really have no problem with, except Pinkel, but how do you rank a guy in there that hasn't won a conference title in the Big 12 in 12 tries; only won one at Toledo, and hasn't coached a season in the SEC ever?
