You know this was a federal prosecution for bribery charges and such, right?  So you got out of Alabama because the fed's like to waste $35 million?  Unfortunately, you have to pay the I.R.S. in Louisiana too...shit, if not I'd live there.

But, if you are talking about Governor Riley and the gambling stuff...Yeah, I agree.  It was dumb.

Shit like this is a big part of why I got out of Alabama.

Seriously.

Way to waste millions in tax dollars after playing  nanny state and shutting down these businesses that would have created millions more.

You may want to look up Louisiana's government history.

This guy knows.

Last time I checked the index, Lousiana was the only state ranked higher than Texas and Alabama in political corruption. The terms Alabama Politics and Texas Politics are notorious - and Lousiana was worse.

Maybe, but I'm free to drink my 32 oz 20% alcohol content gourmet beer or the liquor that I bought from the grocery store in an open container on my way to gamble.

Government policing morality pisses me off more than any other political issue.

I agree on govt policing indeed.

Which confuses me even more as to why you would vote for the ONE. Pretty soon, the Feds will be telling us the proper way to pour piss from a boot.

Well, if you're legitimately concerned about Santorum policing morality, what's your opinion on the healthcare bill imposing liberal concepts of morality on everyone, especially as it applies to churches and religion?  Is it not the same thing?

Until someone wants to make it illegal for you not to have an a abortion, or marry a dude, or use birth control (can't believe that one's even still a debate), then no, it's not the same.

You seem to be confusing individual freedom with the "burden" of others having individual freedoms that you might not care for.

So, we're for freedom of religion now, unless of course that freedom upsets our individual freedom to choose?

So forcing me, the Catholic Church or any other religious institution to fund contraceptives, abortions and some of the other hidden secrets and surprises that we may find morally reprehensible is not the same thing...  I see.

You seem to be confusing individual freedom with the "burden" of others having individual freedoms that you might not care for.
When I have to carry that burden or cover that cost for somebody else's supposed freedom, I'm not confusing a damn thing.

There are plenty of people who don't believe in war, but they have to pay for it. You may believe in home schooling, but you still pay for public education. It's called being a part of a society.

And religious institutions don't pay taxes.

Freedom isn't free.  It costs folks like you and me...and if we don't all chip in, we'll never pay that bill.

My wife helps keep the books for our church.  And they do.  Trust me the government has ways of making you say, "Wow, it would just be easier and cheaper to pay the taxes than to try to get an exemption."

You meet a man on the Oregon Trail. He tells you his name is Terry. You laugh and tell him: "That's a girl's name!" Terry shoots you. You have died of dissin' Terry.

Well now, you're partially seeing the point, but society has less to do with it.  Liberal morals are just as hard-lined as Conservative morals.  Liberals just disguise them better and bury them in the collective structures and complicated legislation that they sometimes don't even read or allow to be read.

And religious institutions don't pay taxes.
That's not entirely true.  It's far more complicated than that, especially when the government dictates what these religious institutions must provide for their employees and students.  No...  They may not always have to cut a check to FedGov, but when FedGov imposes a policy or law that forces them to provide morally reprehensible services, it might as well be a tax.  And, so much for First Amendment protections...
