Until someone wants to make it illegal for you not to have an a abortion, or marry a dude, or use birth control (can't believe that one's even still a debate), then no, it's not the same.

You seem to be confusing individual freedom with the "burden" of others having individual freedoms that you might not care for.

My wife helps keep the books for our church.  And they do.  Trust me the government has ways of making you say, "Wow, it would just be easier and cheaper to pay the taxes than to try to get an exemption."

Well now, you're partially seeing the point, but society has less to do with it.  Liberal morals are just as hard-lined as Conservative morals.  Liberals just disguise them better and bury them in the collective structures and complicated legislation that they sometimes don't even read or allow to be read.

That's not entirely true.  It's far more complicated than that, especially when the government dictates what these religious institutions must provide for their employees and students.  No...  They may not always have to cut a check to FedGov, but when FedGov imposes a policy or law that forces them to provide morally reprehensible services, it might as well be a tax.  And, so much for First Amendment protections...
