Honestly, I don't see where there is that much difference in the scholarship types. It's window dressing, really. With a 4 year scholarship, it can still be taken away if you don't fulfill academic or other types of off-the-field requirements (legal troubles, etc). It can still be taken away for breaking team rules. If they have a persistent medical issue, they can still be put on medical hardship. The only relief it provides is telling a kid that is enrolled that his scholarship can't be pulled because he's at the bottom of the depth chart after 2 years on the team, or something like that. Which most kids just transfer if they're not getting the playing time that want anyway.
