The honorable thing for a college coach to do is this: When he extends a scholarship offer, it means the player will enroll at his school and have a scholarship available as soon as he graduates from high school -- assuming he meets academic and personal conduct requirements. If not, don't offer.

Alabama filled the spot that had been reserved for Philon since September by accepting 11th-hour commitments from out-of-state defensive linemen Dalvin Tomlinson and Korren Kirven.

The honorable thing to do would have been to tell Kirven or Tomlinson that Alabama's class was full. Saban should have said, "Hey, you guys are superb players, but we've got this kid from Vigor who has been committed to us for months. Sorry."

But Saban didn't. As long as the winning continues, will anyone care?

Nope.
I know that Never to Yield Foundation blog touched on this, but you can't tell me if I'm a talented HS football player, or especially the parent of one, and I see the kind of insurance that goes with a commitment to Auburn (the perfect example being Shon Coleman) and contrast that with what's going on at Alabama, with Saban yanking scholarships out from under guys who were committed to them for over a year, two days before signing day and thereby completely fucking them, that it would not be a no-brainer to commit to Auburn given the choice between the two. Let's not even get into the fun, family-like, environment, where recruits and players constantly say the coaching staff are like fathers to them, compared to renowned complete asshole prick Saban that has these kids walking on eggshells like he's some kind of mob boss.

Fans of that school who have kids that are good enough to play ball are not gonna care.   The thing about being a recruiter is being able to sell your school and team.  They will come in and tell parents whatever they need to tell them.  Most people won't see through it, especially if they are a fan of that school.   Some schools are up front about everything and some will tell you whatever it takes to get your signature.

I was more getting to the fan base they have.  99% of them wouldn't care if Saban murdered someone as long as they are winning football games.  Their self worth depends on it.

The media won't care either.  Saban is an asshole, but unless he pulls something huge, ESPN, FoxSports, Yahoo Sports or the local media isn't going to give him shit for it b/c he is winning, his team is in the hunt and there huge fan base will be tuning in and reading all they can.  It sells, and they are in the business of making money.

Saban could drive through downtown Tuscaloosa (and probably Birmingham as well) with the corpses of 10 dead hookers on the hood of his F-150, doing 125 all the way through, and nobody would care.

Well in order for him to get them on the hood, they would have to be midget hookers.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

And he should be able to get more than 10 on there.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.
