FYI...thin and solid do not mean the same thing.
The DL was definitely on the weak side last season, but most of the guys playing on the interior were freshmen and sophomores that have not completely physically developed at their positions, plain and simple. These guys were all 3, 4 and 5 star guys, so the talent should be there.
The LB corps had a few 3 and 4 star guys that signed last year and should be ready to start contributing in 2012 hopefully, but there are also 3 LB positions vs. 2 interior line spots that have to be filled with a quality 2-deep.
Not going to argue semantics of "thin talent" vs "thin numbers". to MAH toe/to MAY toe.
Also agree, the bigger need was/is LB, but it all starts up front. You'd be surprised how much LB play improves with great DT play.
Agree we were young at DT too, but I expected better play out of Whitaker, and at 6-4 312, and being a Soph that got lots of playing time in 2010, there's room for doubt until he proves himself. Not saying he's completely sucked, but showed no signs of being a game changer, or really striking fear in the heart of any opposing OL. Jamar Travis is a 4 star DT Sr. to be. What's he done?
DT and LB have to be a priority next year.
