Bobby Hebert Not Happy
« on: January 10, 2012, 10:32:25 AM »
Former Aint's QB and father of LSU lineman T-Bobby Boucher Hebert, is also an afternoon talk show host in Nawlins.  In The Hat's presser after the game, he got the first question.  Discuss...

After Miles made an opening statement, the moderator opened the floor to questions. The first came from Bobby Hebert, a local broadcaster and former Saints quarterback, whose son, T-Bob Hebert, plays center and guard for L.S.U.

Hebert started, according to the transcript: "Coach, did you ever consider bringing in Jarrett Lee, considering that you weren't taking any chances on the field? Now, I know Alabama's defense is dominant. But, come on, that's ridiculous, five first downs. I mean, so it's almost an approach, I'll tell you from the fans' standpoint, that how can you not maybe push the ball down the field and bring in Jarrett Lee?"

I agree.  He looked lost last night.  I bet he's wishing he would've acted on that Meatchicken opening.

Which is silly.

Should Les have tried Jarrett Lee in this game?  Sure.  Maybe.  It most likely would not have made a difference.

The simple fact from this game was that of the two teams, only one improved their offense since November 5th.  LSU didn't exactly light Tuscaloosa on fire back in November.  They got even more messed up after Alabama's offense figured out how to work the LSU defense.

Should Les's seat be hot because of one game?  I don't think so.  He'll have a good chance to make up for this debacle next year when they return almost everybody except Jordan Jefferson.

While I agree that it shouldn't be hot because of one game, you also need to take a long hard look at that one game.  That team was not prepared and it showed.

Losing JJ is the best thing that is going to happen.

It looked more like one player wasn't prepared.  That LSU defense deserves some credit.  McCarron was playing absolutely lights out, and Alabama still had the bullhorsebuffalo at running back.  LSU held Bama to mostly field goals.

The gameplan didn't look all that great, but from what I saw, Jordan Jefferson was timid.  He was scared and unsure.  He didn't believe he would run the option well.  He didn't konw when to pitch it.  When he rolled out to pass, he didn't look like he wanted to pass the ball.  Even from the snap.  Pressure?  Didn't matter.  He already knew he was going to have to run.  Then when he went to run, he cowered like a scared child.

He looked a lot like Clint Moseley to be honest.

Meh. I dunno.

Where was Honey Badger? Not Heisman contender-worthy last night, for sure.

Everyone just looked apathetic as shit on that sideline. From Les all the way down to the long snapper.

Oh there you go again. When things go good, the long snapper isn't even mentioned.  But let the team play a crappy game and the long snapper gets all the blame.  I'm not sure what game you were watching last night, but I saw a long snapper who busted his ass getting on and off the field.  His snaps were crisp and on target and while others were down, he was constantly giving encouragement to his fellow special teams comrades. I saw a pep in his step all night and a never-say-die attitude that would have been just the pick me up the team needed.....if they would let the special teams guys sit with them on the same bench.

How the fuck did you get any work done with all the 3rd and longs LSU was in?  And wouldn't a real man take the bourbon and coke with him?

I went to bed after the third quarter....the smell of scorched honey badger was too much.

No, no, fuck no!  A man that squats to piss would take his bourbon and coke with him.   A "Man" would take his bourbon with him, or have it killed by the time he got to the TV so he could pour another one.

Agreed. The biggest thing I can see from the LSU side is people think they are owed an explanation as to why Lee wasn't at least given a shot. True, it may not have mattered. But it's sort of like AU fans wondering why Dyer wasn't at least given a chance after it was very clear AU wasn't going to be able to pass well against Bama.

The way they see it is Lee got them through the first 8 games ok. They feel the only reason he was benched was because of 2 INTs against Bama on Nov 5th. Which they feel is understandable for any team, given the caliber of defense they were facing. He at least deserved a few snaps to see what might happen. It certainly couldn't have gone any worse than JJ running the show. By all accounts from coaches and LSU "insiders", their next heir apparent at QB Mettenberger, is the next coming of John Elway. So they don't understand why if coaches thought Lee was that inept, why Mettenberger wasn't given a shot if he truly is as good as they say. Which tells me he really isn't.

To add fuel to the fire, there are articles coming out quoting the players as being confused by some decisions made by coaches as far as personnel, playcalling, etc. Players are even saying it was in their game plan to have Lee come in for some series. I understand that adjustments have to be made to every game plan and all, so I don't know. I mean, look at a very small sampling of the quotes that have the corndogs eating their own:

Quote
“I felt like Jarrett could have come in and helped us a lot,” Randle said.

Quote
“Unfortunately I don’t have a say in the game plan or personnel,” Blackwell said. “Jarrett didn’t get his shot, and I felt like maybe he should have, but he didn’t.”

Quote
“I thought I might get a couple snaps tonight,” Lee said. “It was in the game plan and I felt confident about it.”
