Dyer suspended. Rumors abound. Some say it's a one game deal others that suspension would extend into next season. Not a good situation for him or for the team. Bad juju.
It was already tough to get excited about this game. Now Dyer can't run the wildcat and we have no one to protect our stable of QBs before the pocket collapses. We desperately needed his 12 or so carries to help sell our dashes toward the boundaries. Kristi Malzahn tried to warn us but we wouldn't listen and now hands are writhing with anxiety. And sadly, Trey Smith has no more elligibility.
Yes, but Tre Mason does.
Never mind, it seems to be a failed drug test.
Welcome to 12 hours ago.
I'm just catching up to all of this but their seems to be a large contingency that believes he will not be back next year either. Supposedly Dyer has been cutting a lot of classes.
A friend of mine that teaches at Auburn had Dyer for a couple of classes. He told me that his attitude changed after last year, like being MVP of the national championship game went to his head. He also mentioned that he was not going to class and had a fear that he was going to become academically ineligible. Dyer was already talking about his NFL career, like he really did not need to be in school anymore to play ball. There were also rumors about him hitting the weed. I had filed the rumors, about him using pot, away in the back of my mind as hopefully being just college campus gossip. Now that is looking like more than rumor. Sad if Dyer has really let last year turn him into a tool.
...as does Laddie Phillips. Whatayousay we switch to the I with Mason as the feature back behind the plowing efforts of Phillips with our youthful but inexperienced offensive line for a little three yards and a heap of bodies?
This. Mason is your best back anyway. Kid is a star.
Oh is he now? Besides his work as a return specialist, what makes you think he's a star?
Mason had been handed the ball some also and has looked promising. Stats show he has 19 rushes for a net of 97 yards (102 gained minus 5 lost), averaging 5.1 yards a carry. Sounds like a potential star to me that could replace Dyer.
