In the first game of the day, Handley beat Madison Academy 20-14 for the 3A title.

The 1A game is underway right now with Linden and Marion County tied at 6 in the second quarter. One of my co-workers son is the starting tailback for Linden and just scored their first TD.

Oneonta is on a roll since the playoffs started. That game starts at 11 tomorrow.

They play three today and three tomorrow. My guess is because it gives them a chance to play on tv without competing against college championship weekend, and gives college coaches a chance to see them in person. That's just my .02

Vigor (where the hell is Vigor?) is leading Hartselle 3-0 at the half. I really do not like Hartselle and I hope Vigor whips them in the second half. Hartselle's uniforms are fucking horrible too.

Pretty good game on Charter 138. Jackson just pretty much salted away Oneonta with a TD and 4 min. left in the game to make it 42-28. OHS had tied it at 28 with a pick 6, but hasn't otherwise been able to stop JHS all day.

Jackson was just way too much offensively.

And really the score made it look closer than it was. OHS had to run 2 trick plays to score one TD, and the pick 6 was a LB gambling on a screen pass. Good plays all, but a bit of luck. The trick play that scored the TD was a pitch, then a reverse, and the guy on the reverse option pitched to the QB, the 2 guys that handled the ball first got blown up the instant the handed off or pitched. The play that got them down there was a throwback pass to the QB that almost took too long, but the QB for OHS was pretty athletic and made a play.

Well, hopefully they can keep it up. Oneonta was beaten in the 3A finals in 03, I think, before winning it in 04. Maybe this is a trend for them. The next year Oneonta was moved to 4A and Josh Niblett was Oxfords new HC. It seems they have done well to match the talent of the 4A class though.
