Bama fans fear a loss on Nov. 5.  The fear runs deep.

Their self-appointed national spokesman, Paul Finebaum, just unleashed the first fear-based assault by blasting BCS guru Jerry Palm and labeling him a Midwesterner with a closed mind.

It's finebaum's typical tactic.  Ostracize the person he doesn't agree with by painting them as liberals or ivory tower elitists or yankees.  Cut and paste Alabama political posturing.  And it still sells.

Bama fans are afraid of a loss.  They want to paint Nov 5 in such large letters that they make a case for a rematch. Finebaum's hysterical ridicule of Palm is the first shot in that battle.

The campaign of fear begins, but more annoying, the continuing build up overhyping one fricking game. A caller to our local show this morning, who is an avid Bama fan, said he was already sick of the constant hype on this game and will probably be ready to puke by the time the game gets here.  This is Meatchicken/Ohio State..USC/Chokelahoma all over again. The game will be a 30 point blow out one way or another.

Finebaum's finally lost sight of what he is, and has become part of the crowd he panders to.  He came off like a buffoon on that last OTL appearance, shouting everybody down, talking smack like Legend, and then he treats Palm like any run of the mill, moron caller for disagreeing with him.

Bammers love claiming NCs, hate having to compete for them.  Yeah, they're afraid of losing.  Both defenses are outstanding, both offensive lines dominant, but I think in the end it will come down to QB play, and I don't think McCarron is ready to make the plays he's going to have to make to beat that defense.  He throws a couple of picks, and it could get ugly.  IF he is up to the task, then it will be a great game.

Probably not. Even if Stanford and Oklahoma State lose in the coming weeks, independent BCS analyst Jerry Palm thinks it's "highly unlikely" that a one-loss SEC team would jump Boise State and Clemson if the Broncos and Tigers go undefeated.

Bias aside, in all seriousness, in a system as fucked up as the BCS already is, the dumbest shit of all time, in a long list of dumb shit, in regards to the BCS would be putting two teams that already played eachother in a rematch.

I don't care if Bama wins this game by one point and the only other undefeated team is Boise, therefore making LSU the only team in the country with a legitimate shot to block them from another championship.

It's just completely devoid of logic and reason to put two teams that faced eachother on the field on the field again.

In a sport that doesn't have a playoff system, two National Championship caliber teams facing each other on the field before the Championship game selections are made is the closest we can get. There's no speculation about it. It was proven on the field. Done. Over. Next most worthy opponent, please. In the NCAA basketball tournament, if you lose a game, it's over. You blew it. Sorry. If you are in favor of a playoff, that is obvious logic.

If you're opposed to a playoff, isn't that the whole argument? The wins on the field are supposed to mean something? So does that only apply when comparing apples and oranges? Not when speculating who is the best team in the country between two teams that already played eachother? Let alone how insanely unfair that is to teams, even if it is Boise, who did everything they could possibly do to get included, including beat an SEC team on the field.

And another thing...I'm not disparaging either of these teams.  I think they're both damn good and probably deserving of their rankings.  I'm just wondering how good because the more I see of the SEC this year, the more it looks like this league has slipped tremendously.  It's obviously Bama/LSU and a huge dropoff to the next team.  Arky may be closer than the rest but we saw how that worked out when they matched up against the Tahd.  The Lamecocks proved to be pretenders with or without Lattimore.  Their only saving grace is a very favorable schedule. 

Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, MSU and Georgia are all barely average and the usual bottom feeders continue to do just that, although Vandy is at least competitive.  We saw what happened to Okie and Weskansan this weekend and I really thought no way anybody gets in their way.  LSU handled the Ducks and I do think that's a legit win.  But everyone also hyped up the WVU win...until Syracuse bitch slapped them Friday night.

This is the thing. You'd think if they get out of this game with a win, they sure as shit wouldn't want to face them again. You'd think they'd say "Bring on Boise or Clemson or Oklahoma State, or whoever the next best team in what appears to be an overall down year of football, and we'll beat them on the field to remove any doubt".

There's no need for a rematch.  I hate rematches.  You play the game, live with the results.  Next opponent. 

And another thing...I don't think the voters will allow it.  The whole world is sick of the SEC domination in the BCS title game, and I don't see the majority of the country's voters voting to hand the SEC another one on a silver platter by allowing 2 SEC teams to play for all the marbles.
