I know it's not the same regime but Tubs seemed to be pretty straightforward.  Anyone recall what the Lemarcus Rowell (LB from Opelika) discipline was?  He got popped with a sac and a gun on a traffic stop.  If memory serves, Tubs suspended him for a year but gave him a second chance, which I think he blew.

Fortunately, Chiz hasn't had to address too much to this point. The 4 arrested was a decision made for him.  No brainer.

Why wasn't OMac kicked off the team? He was arrested earlier this year. I mean, that's the standard that you set, right?
I didn't set shit. I never once said a player should be arrested immediately following an arrest completely agnostic to the circumstances surrounding it. OMac, as I'm sure you know, was "arrested" for the misdemeanor of not having his driver's license on him and for having outdated tags. No one with a trace of sanity would suggest a player be kicked off of a football team for an offense like that.

Robbery? Drugs? Even fights, considering the circumstances. Those are different stories.

The first year was pretty rough, but since then, they seem to be few and far between. Off the top of my head, I can think of Calloway, Barron, Elder (dismissed within a week of the arrest), Rashad Johnson, Upshaw, Johns....probably 1 or 2 more I'm missing.

Shit, AU had 5 just this year if we're going to throw stones here. Oh, and you can't give credit for kicking the 4-pack off the team, because it would have been awful hard for them to play from their prison cells. Why wasn't OMac kicked off the team? He was arrested earlier this year. I mean, that's the standard that you set, right? Why did it take like half a year to boot Eric Smith? Where was the next day swiftness?

Just saying, I think your perception of shit is a little skewed. Am I saying it's OK for guys to get arrested? No. But, I don't believe in kicking them off the team right then and there just because they got arrested for something like simple marijuana possession, etc. It doesn't matter if we're talking about Alabama, Auburn, St. Mary's School of the Blind, or whoever. I think every arrest is situational. Not to mention the fact that we're talking about 18-21 year old kids who are going to to dumb shit in the first place. If the AU standard is to kick every guy off the team that gets arrested (which it isn't), then that's great. More power to Chizik. I just don't think it should be the automatic answer, depending on the situation.
5 huh?

How many before them?

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

You meet a man on the Oregon Trail. He tells you his name is Terry. You laugh and tell him: "That's a girl's name!" Terry shoots you. You have died of dissin' Terry.

Considering 2 of the Wire Road posse are already playing juco ball out west, the point of them being suspended easily because they were never getting out of jail is invalid.  ($aban probably could have gotten all four back out to play)

You said:

Quote
to this point, when an Auburn player is arrested, they are swiftly permanently dismissed from the football team within a day.
Eric Smith was arrested. Not dismissed within a day. Suspended the first game, and finished out the rest of the season on the team.

Onterio McCalebb was arrested on some traffic bullshit. Still on the team.

You didn't mention shit about variables, situations, etc etc. You flat out said ^^ that. Maybe you meant to word it differently. I don't know. I'm simply reading exactly what you said. I'm not saying that the two situations should have been handled differently, FWIW. Nobody questioned AU discipline procedures. You introduced the above quote (even though it was factually wrong) as if you felt that was the standard, or an example of correct discipline.

Do you think Calloway should be kicked off the team? Mark Barron?

Agnostic = independent of.

It is not strictly a theological term.

I guess it is used more in the tech world.

Platform agnostic, language agnostic, system agnostic, protocol agnostic, etc.

I've heard of it before.  I'd always heard it explained that the term arose because the program wasn't aware (or didn't "know") what platform it was on; it ran regardless.  Not literally, of course...it's just a way of describing software that runs independently from the platform it's on, but it's a relative metaphorical bastardization of the word that doesn't work well in non-tech situations.

At any rate, that was only part of it...

I never once said a player should be arrested immediately following an arrest completely agnostic to the circumstances surrounding it.
