OU at Texas Tech
« on: October 18, 2011, 02:12:34 PM »
I thought I'd throw this out there to make some of you BFC pickers think.  I see those that have made their picks are putting big numbers on OU.  Think about it though...Tubs, coming off a game he should have won, where they shot themselves in the foot with turnovers.  Huge dogs at home to OU.  This is Tubs kind of game, and the type game Stoops often stubs his toe on.  Not sure if I'm ready to pull the trigger, but...

Stoops 2002 goes in to College Station ranked #1, loses to a .500 aTm

2003 loses to K State in the Big 12 Title game 35-7...NOBODY gave K State a Chance.

2004 got smoked by USC 55-19 in a game the NCAA says never happened.

2006, went to #18 Oregon ranked 11th, lost, then became the first of the "Big Boys" to fall to Boise State in the Bowl game

2007 went in to unranked Colorado ranked #4, lost, 6 week later had climbed all the way back up to #3, went in to Lubbock and got beat.  The pollsters loved them though, and they were #3 in the Fiesta Bowl vs #9 WVU, and lost 48-28

2008  Ranked #1, lost to #5 Texas, climbed back to #1, lost to Florida in the BCS Title Game.

2009 8-5 season

2010 Undefeated and ranked #3, went to #16 Mizzou losing 36-27, 2 weeks later ranked #9 they were blown out by unranked aTm 33-19

We all know Tubs in these types of games.  Could it be?  Tubs the Giant Killer vs Stoops he toe stubber, and there's yet to be that big upset of a top ranked team this season.  Hmmmmm?

This was Tubs kind of game when he was here.  He has shown no real propensity for coming up big at TT.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

I've wondered about Tuberville at Texas Tech.  I keep waiting to see that classic Tuberville upset, but nothing really leads me to think this is his year to do it.

He's still trying to run a more wide open offense.  I thought that was just a virus that infected his brain in 2008, but apparently it's still lingering in his system.

Tuberville could pull off those upsets running the clock out and playing sound defense.

Actually, I'd view more as the type game where Stoops would go in and lay an egg.

There are no good teams in the Big 11, 12, 13, err 12....therefore; there are no upsets.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

I was going to say the same thing.

TTU not = Auburn. Just saying.

But as JR said, Stoops could gift wrap this one for Tubs. That's the only way I see TT winning this game. If OU even halfway shows up, they are not losing. Fortunately, sometimes they don't show up in big games.

The Tx Tech offense is scoring points...it's their defense that sucks.  They're in the top 10 in Passing, Total, and Scoring Offense.  He's letting Neal Brown run it, and it's working for them.    That said, they haven't played a defense like OU's.

Could be.

Can I say that Les Miles is due for a clock management flub?  I'm still reaching for more reasons to call the Auburn upset.

That's kind of my point.

Tuberville wasn't known for scoring a lot of points to upset a top ranked team.  He played defense, good special teams, and ran the ball.  Use all three downs to get the first.  Get a few field goals and snag a few touchdowns.  Hold the opposing team to 14-21 points and light up a cigar.

I just don't see it happening unless Stoops lays another egg.  He's good at that though.  He's a good hen.

I'm feeling this is going to be upset Sat.  One of the big boys is going down.  Auburn has the chance to be one of the teams to pull it off.  I'm not feeling that vibe unfortunately.  I do for a minute, but it's fleeting.  I've been looking at this OU vs Tx Tech, and I get the vibe on it much stronger.

it's their defense that sucks.

Doesn't that mean he sucks as a HC then?
That's what many were/are saying about Chiz since he was a DC previously.

First, I guess I fucked up by calling it OU at TT...

And I didn't completely have the nuts to outright call it...

BUT...I did put it on the "upset watch list" as the game I thought was the likely candidate...

AND...it was the one that paid off!

Not sayin', just sayin'!
